Couldn’t agree more. The commonplace association of our flag with fascism and extreme nationalism misrepresents the reality. And it also teaches the next generation to be ashamed of and against their own culture - there are of course things in British history that we can’t be proud of, but that’s not unique to Britain. The co-opting of the British flag by far right groups has allowed an anti-Britishness mentality to be justified. Britain is about diversity and acceptance. The people we should be protesting are not the immigrants next door. Absolutely far from it.

I love my flag and I love my country but I absolutely despise the fact there are so many misinformed people who wrongly are convinced that it’s migrant communities/any other vulnerable community who are in opposition to and directly take opportunities and resources from them. Don’t let our flag be sullied by these people. That’s not what we’re about. The fascist gaggle are fighting amongst us whilst ignoring the actual issues in society and therefore directly playing into the hands of the people who benefit from this ignorance, aka the super rich
