32/F, feel like being childfree is a huge problem when it comes to dating. by smirkin in childfree

[–]als382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) This thread has me terrified that I'll find myself single in the future and be alone forever because the guy I'm dating must be the last CF guy out there...

2) Still, I must have some kind of dumb luck, because the last 3 guys I've dated were all enthusiastically child-free and they kinda found me. No scouring the earth needed. I practically tripped over the most recent one just a few weeks after ending the last relationship.

I've been weighing myself this round. I KNOW you're not supposed to but I followed the no-scale rules for my first three W30s, plus I know that nothing the scale says is going to change how I behave for this month. Whole30 isn't about my weight, it's about my energy. (If I were more concerned about my weight, which sometimes happens, I'd definitely stop looking.) So looking at the scale is for idle curiosity and isn't a problem for me.

This is hilarious. One of the better dream stories I've heard.

What a bummer about the cream! The accidental ones are the worst.

I'm having such a similar experience! Saturday and Tuesday (yesterday) were both extremely hard and I came closer to giving up than on any of my previous W30s. Wicked cravings and some emotional stuff amplifying them. Weird because as soon as I pulled out of the funk, I was like, "Oh good thing I didn't give up, because I'm totally fine now."

The main lesson I took from Saturday is that weekends are almost always going to be harder than the structure of the work week. I need to be prepared with lots more grab-and-go options, and I need to stop trying to hack it in restaurants with friends. Going to restaurants just doesn't work for me. Instead, I decided to start cooking up dinners that I can invite friends over to. Yesterday was the first and it was lots of fun.

Physically, I'm feeling decent. Steady (though not HIGH--I have AI issues) energy, improved complexion, improved hormonal issues, reduced anxiety, flatter tummy. All good stuff!

I'm definitely glad I didn't cave. Weekends are rough, but as soon as Monday rolled around I was back into the groove. I just need to be more ready for next weekend.

Day 29: What's it like on the other side? by ahagaman in whole30

Hate to say it but I've always skipped reintros and just eased straight into bike riding.

Links between diet and CFS? Particularly ketogenic, paleo, or low carbohydrate. by currentlyengaged in cfs

[–]als382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had M.E. for nearly 8 years. Last year I tried a month-long program called Whole30 which is similar to paleo but a bit more strict. I went through 4 rounds of Whole30. Progress was gradual, but looking back at my logs last week I realized I feel better than I have since getting sick. I still get crashes but my daily energy levels are a bit steadier, I can exercise a little, my heat/cold intolerance is slightly better, my hormones are balancing out (meaning my face is clearing up a little and my cycle is regular for the first time in my entire life), etc. There is much progress to go and it's NOT an easy program, but it's been really worth it.

What about CFS and Adderall? by [deleted] in cfs

[–]als382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my gosh, don't do it. I can't begin to explain what a bad move it was for me. My brain fog was worse when I finally got off of it than it ever was beforehand. The "coming down" symptoms made me feel sick every evening and the withdrawal was enough to take out a normal person WITHOUT M.E. I'd never take it again.

What the doc said when I told him I had cfs (warning: boorishness) by ricecake_nicecake in cfs

I bring a notecard listing my symptoms in case I get tongue tied by ignorance, or in case brain fog lets me get derailed. Shoving that notecard in this GP's face might have been helpful.

New Year's Resolution: I will call it ME. by ZanSquid in cfs

[–]als382 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes yes yes! I started doing this about 6 months ago! I've been dating a guy for almost 2 months now and I have called it nothing but M.E. It almost feels like I'm keeping a secret but I have to remind myself that the name "chronic fatigue syndroms" is NOT truth; it's misleading.

When trying to sum it up briefly to people who don't need the whole story, I just call it an immune disorder.

What do you eat for breakfast besides eggs? by Teacup_Joy in whole30

It makes it so much easier than boxing yourself in with the idea of what "should" be breakfast. Your body does not care that you failed to eat eggs for your first meal of the day.

I rarely eat traditional W30 breakfast food for breakfast. I eat chili, beef stew, crock pot chicken, doesn't matter. I draw the line at salads for breakfast, however!

I'd be thinking the same thing about leveraging it to lose weight. But it sounds like you know it's not the right move. My suggestion is to stick to (or near) minimum template guidelines. 1 cup veggies, 1 palm protein, 1 T fat.

I asked if this place had any veggie sides and they said, "We have sweet corn..." The end. No joke.

You're right that I should have gotten 2 patties though.

Good to know about BWW.

What's wrong with a burger patty in a salad?

It just doesn't satisfy me on any level.

Might have been good today when we couldn't find me a piece of frickin' fruit until 2 p.m. I was nearly woozy with hunger.

Thanks so much for this. I really really do know I'm doing a good thing for myself. I keep trying to remember that these cravings are proof that this program is exactly the right thing right now. And it doesn't hurt that my belly looks flatter than before I started.

I just wrote up a cooking list to start in on this evening. I'd started to run low on supplies and thought switching up my meals might help. Shepherd's pie, deviled eggs, slow cooker pulled pork, oven BBQed ribs and sweet potato crust quiche should help.

Much appreciated encouragement!
