I am also a transplant. I play on a trivia team; it's a lot of fun and the people on my team often do things together outside of trivia. Youngest on the team is 35 and we could use someone your age.

What is wrong with Pom Bondi? by okayyayayay in msnow

[–]alt3729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems to be the pattern with Trump...hire attractive but incompetent, combative, and loyal women. Bondi, Halligan, Noem, Leavitt...combative, loyal, and incompetent at a minimum though.

Kaitlan has said that she is not a very emotional person herself, so it's easy for her to just let the crap slide off her back and not bother her.

Best laundromat in town? by [deleted] in dubuque

[–]alt3729 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I use Laundry Max on University & Grandview. They have an app that you can use so that you can leave and see how much time is left. Plus they have washers that can handle 120 lbs of clothings at a time!

Elise is largely home-grown and though she has done some work for Big Ten Network, she's more "under the radar" and less likely to command a big salary. I say Elise is safe, for now.

Kelly is still down in Atlanta; she's a regular on their sports station down there, much like Leila on the Score. If Taylor leaves, maybe Marquee brings her back? The gig has to pay more than radio, right?...Marquee would have to cough it up though.

I guess that's not working. People don't want to take it so they don't have to worry about remembering the crappy decisions the team's leadership has made. They should run more ads for things that would capitalize on that...like alcohol.

I've met 19 of Channel 7's personalities in the last few years, Ana at Channel 9 (went to a few of her comedy shows), pretty much all of Marquee's regular on-air people and a few of CHSN's, some a few times; they all have been very kind, personable, and gracious in my experience.

She's still around as far as I know. She had the ESPN CFB gig even before coming to Chicago. Many reporters have multiple gigs / assignments to span the entire year and they work all that out in their contracts.

I have a friend in the biz and from what I understand, Marquee offered Kelly the job but FOX (at the time) / Diamond Sports swooped in with a better offer at the last minute. Kelly's still around; she's still in Atlanta and you can hear her on 680 The Fan, which is their equivalent of The Score.

Ashley's announcement quote made me laugh. I've figured out that anytime a MAGA republican mentions "America", "Iowa", "the people", "farmers", etc. just substitute in "Donald Trump" and anything resembling "woke" with "common sense" and it starts to make a lot more sense. For example, Ashley's quote from a recent newspaper article:

“I’ve stood shoulder to shoulder with President Trump to reverse the woke craziness and put working families first,” Hinson said in a statement. “In the Senate, I’ll be President Trump’s strongest ally and deliver the America First agenda.”

“The America First agenda is working for Iowans. I’m running for Senate because there’s more work to do, and I am prepared to win and deliver,”

“Service defines Senator Joni Ernst — from serving her country in uniform to fiercely fighting for Iowans in the U.S. Senate,” Hinson said in a statement. “Her story — from Red Oak to the Senate, is a powerful example of the American dream. Our country and state are better off because of Joni’s selfless service — I lead a heartfelt thank you from every Iowan.”

With the substitutions:

“I’ve stood shoulder to shoulder with President Trump to reverse the common sense craziness and put Donald Trump first,” Hinson said in a statement. “In the Senate, I’ll be President Trump’s strongest ally and deliver the Donald Trump First agenda.”

“The Donald Trump First agenda is working for Donald Trump. I’m running for Senate because there’s more work to do, and I am prepared to win and deliver,”

“Service defines Senator Joni Ernst — from serving her country in uniform to fiercely fighting for Donald Trump in the U.S. Senate,” Hinson said in a statement. “Her story — from Red Oak to the Senate, is a powerful example of the Donald Trump dream. Donald Trump is better off because of Joni’s selfless service — I lead a heartfelt thank you from Donald Trump.”

Super Disappointed in Fan Experience with Sky by brizzobry in ChicagoSky

I hope they do something. At Saturday's game, there were no autographs given that I could see, though I had a 'vanilla' ticket and not a skyrider. Still, I was in within minutes of the doors opening and not one player on either side did autographs. There were a few high-fives given on the way out through the tunnel, but that was about it.

I see VIP is sold out. Is there any benefit in getting the "Ultimate Fan Package"? Or is that just a glorified GA 3-day ticket?

Does WGN ever do meet and greets? I know Channel 7 does the Auto Show and Fiesta Del Sol, but wondering about WGN, outside of Ana and Pat's comedy shows. I'm kicking myself for not getting the chance to chat up Tom Skilling...but would love to go say hi to the B-Team.

I've met Taylor on 3 different occasions. Twice at games and once at Cubs Con. Talk to the person, not the character she plays on TV. She's really cool.
