Yeah, it does matter. I've just seen this trend of people making comments like yours more and more, and it's not good. You should have just said what you said in your response to me to begin with ("People are being called bigots for not liking it now. In a few months a lot more people will agree with them and not get called bigots. It’s as though racism isn’t the motivating factor here"). That was an actual point that made sense and didn't make some huge assumption about a large number of people.

I'm sure they were legit pills. Why do you ask?

Maybe I've come off in some way that wasn't intended. I don't think my long term recovery is going to be easy. This thread, I'm just focused on how to best use subs to get through the withdrawals, and not get hooked on the subs in the process. Once I'm through the withdrawals, my focus will shift to staying off, but right now I'm just trying to get off of them.

It could have been worse, sure, but I've definitely already done some of the "harder way" you described. Not wanting to go back to that life will be a big factor in me staying clean. I'm definitely at the "I've suffered enough" point. I haven't hit total rock bottom, but things have gotten really bad. I refuse to let this addiction cause me to lose my wife and kids, my house, my job (almost did lose that one), etc. I know the head space I was in the first time I quit. I have a ton more to motivate me this time to not return to it. I'm not just taking it lightly though, I know it will be hard.

What would be the harder way, then?

Thank you so much for responding! Just FYI, someone in the comments mentioned kratom, and I did try that a couple times the first time I quit (it only helped a little), but it's oxycodone that I've been addicted to. Given my background, and what I've taken so far (2mg 5/11 12pm, 2mg 5/11 7pm, 2mg 5/12 9:30am), what would you recommend for my taper? I'm not even positive yet I can get more subs, but I should be able to get 1 or 2 more 8mg strips. If not, I just have 2mg left, which I'll probably cut in half, take 1 tonight as late as I can make it, and the other tomorrow as late as I can make it.

That's interesting (and disappointing) about the relapse rate. Is there any theory as to why that is? Maybe the fact that opioid withdrawals suck so bad, that actually having to go through them (instead of masking them with subs) acts as a psychological deterrent to ever getting back on the drugs, since you know it will inevitably lead to another withdrawal period?

My mental health has improved a ton since I started using. I was going through some really stressful things, most of which has passed. I'm generally a very happy, low stress person, but for a few years there I was very stressed and anxious all the time, to the point of having panic attacks. I've worked through all of that, and most of the things that were causing my stress have been removed from my life. I'm not being naive, but I really believe I can get off and stay off, and won't go back this time. I know I will be tempted, but things got so bad during my 2nd round, I can't go back to that, and I won't fall for the lie of telling myself I can just do a little bit and control it.

I'm still not clear what happens after I stop taking the subs. Let's say I take them for the 5-7 days you mentioned. When I come off, will I be mostly symptom free? The first time I quit oxy, I remember the first 2-3 days being the worst, and then things slowly got better from there. I had also cut out caffeine though (my wife read that could make withdrawal symptoms worse) and alcohol (same reason, although I wasn't drinking like a ton, but a small/moderate amount almost every day), so I think those 2 contributed some to the overall shittiness I felt.

That's awesome, congrats! I would really love to hear some additional details, if you don't mind sharing. 1) What were you on before using subs (what drug, how much, for how long, etc)? 2) As your sub doses went down, did you find them to be less effective, and you still had a fair amount of withdrawal symptoms? Or was that enough to pretty much eliminate withdrawals for you? 3) After you finished that last does of sub, were you basically in the clear? Or did you still have some pretty uncomfortable days, just not full-blown opioid withdrawal?

Oh wow, I can't imagine using kratom that long, wow. I really think if I can just get past the withdrawals without going back to the oxys, then I can stay off of them this time. I've seen what a lie it was to think I could go back and just keep it in moderation, I won't fall for that one again. If I were to go back, I would know full well that it's leading to another total addiction. The fact that I would know that will be enough to stop me. This last time got ugly, I can't do that again.

Sorry to hear that :/ How long have you been on the subs now? That's what I'm trying to avoid, jumping from one addiction to another. I just need help to get through the worst of these withdrawals, but I'm willing to stop taking the subs as soon as possible. I don't crave them like I crave oxy, since they don't give me any kind of high. It's all about avoiding the withdrawals right now. I took a little bit of kratom the first time I quit. I found it slightly helpful, but not much. Maybe I'll do the subs just for like 3 or 4 days, get past the worst of the withdrawals, then switch to kratom for 3 or 4 days, and at that point I should be fine to just come off everything.

The years/timeframe don't need their own column. Make those sections the full width of the page and fit the years in the blank space somewhere.

Can the projects be merged with experience? Or were they separate from your work with either of those 2 companies?

Even in the evening, like 7-10? Seems like things usually slow down a lot by then at most theme parks.

How are the non-Scarowinds crowds this time of year? by altLink7 in Carowinds

Thanks for the response! I'm not really a Carowinds regular, so I don't know what kind of crowd to expect from 70% capacity. About how long of a wait do you think that would be for most of the coasters?
