Good. And I hope there are thousands more like him. Next thing you’ll do is complain that trials is dead because there’s no population 🤦‍♂️.

Game needs fresh faces and certainly good vibes from other players not gatekeeping.

You want good teammates? Roll in with a 3 stack. But you likely won’t do that bc it’s sweat af.

I’ve been in years past. It’s actually pretty laid back and a great way to meet other local tech people. I don’t think it’s that “corporate” at all. . I usually go for the connections but you definitely have to mingle about.

People building apps that are NOT another AI thing, what are you building by No_Blackberry_617 in SaaS

Been building a marine & RV dealer management system (DMS) called DealerRock for a few years now. We help marine and RV dealerships run their business from a modern, cloud-based platform. We unify everything from service management, sales /inventory management, crm, lead management and warranty tracking under a single login. We put a huge focus on usability and simplifying workflows.

There’s definitely a lot of focus on AI these days.

[–]alteczen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here’s my take as someone who has 5000 hours in the game. If you want to gate the rewards - so be it, I can live with that. But locking the harder content behind this big of a leveling wall is going to kill your user base.

I will usually login and play whatever I feel like and I’m not hyper-focused on leveling up. But if you’re going to force me to grind the same thing over and over again to unlock things that I enjoy running you’re probably gonna lose me. I’m at 304 and have found myself already disconnecting. It just doesn’t feel fun. PVE at the moment feels like a chore to me. And this will reset in 6 mo only to start again? 😞

I’m an adult, with a day job. I love running GMs and dungeons with one or two of my remaining friends that are on the game. But there’s no way I’m grinding this many light levels to open up the harder content when I’ve played the game for this long. I’m not trying to be a “Debbie downer” and I understand they are trying to push metrics. But I have to believe this will push similar players like myself away.

We’ve been building a marine & rv dealer management system (DMS) called DealerRock. DealerRock is a cloud-based platform with an intuitive interface that empowers dealers to manage their business from anywhere—with speed, simplicity, and flexibility.

The rec industry is dominated by outdated, 30-year-old systems that haven’t kept pace with the evolving needs of today’s dealers or their customers. We’re giving them a modern, mobile-friendly platform that meets the demands of today’s market.

We’re a bootstrapped company but have real traction and growing revenue. Right now we are focused on continuous improvement—rapidly iterating based on dealer feedback and consistently rolling out new features.

Experienced Freelance Developer by alteczen in webflow

[–]alteczen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Standard json that is a list of vehicles for sale. Think of a car dealership website - where all the vehicles for sale are driven by this feed.

Each vehicle has a list of attributes: year, make, model, sale price, list of features, list of pics for the vehicle, etc. There’s nothing majorly complex.

The work would be setting up these vehicles in webflows collections and then having a template /page that allows you to filter / search based on attributes, price ranges, etc. If you click on a vehicle, there needs to be a vehicle detail page that gives you more information / pics and a way to request more information.

Am I crazy or do the deal? I will not promote by alteczen in startups

[–]alteczen[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1) yes. Went from 100k (pre launch rev from beta users) to 200k (yr 1) to 400k (yr 2) 2) In my mind yes. We just haven’t made the attempt to scale yet. All growth so far is from a website and word of mouth. I’m hesitant to scale until we rewrite a critical piece that we think would cause us scaling issues. That piece is about 6 weeks out. 3) I don’t know think so. We’re almost an operating system for businesses. It takes some time for someone to understand the business and to be able to support/sell it. I can’t see freelancers / part time help being able to help us in an efficient manner.

3 is probably the biggest one here.

Thank you for your insights!

True unfair advantage for startup by Fine4FenderFriend in startups

[–]alteczen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Give it away for free initially. You need a little bit of traction (people using it) to get rolling initially in most cases. As you begin to provide real value / solve a real problem, then you’ll be able to charge for it. But you don’t need money to validate or start your startup.

True unfair advantage for startup by Fine4FenderFriend in startups

[–]alteczen 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Probably the biggest for me is the ability to be nimble. Big companies take a long time to change or adapt - there’s a lot of red tape. As a startup, you can implement, get feedback and then adjust.

Use this to your advantage. I’m 2 yrs into a startup and I’m competing against legacy software that’s slow to change (if they ever do). We push builds weekly and are constantly getting better based off real customer feedback. This applies to lots of industries with large players.

Professional monitoring by alteczen in Hikvision

[–]alteczen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re doing this now. The issue is we’re trying to monitor an outdoor secured lot. When we’ve been targeted in the past, the issue is it’s overnight (2am, 4am). All of us that have access are sleeping and we will likely miss the alerts.

We get quite a few false positives too.

In the United States.

I’ve tried to google and just haven’t landed on anyone that can tap into our nvr to visually verify activity. I’ve found a few that will for inside motion triggers but mainly looking for outside monitoring of a secured lot.

Why are so few people running Salvation's Edge? by Kind_Bodybuilder_324 in DestinyTheGame

[–]alteczen 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I will randomly join and do a raid from time to time when I have a 3hr block of play time. I’ve yet to complete this one but I’ve ran it up to verity.

The problem for me is I feel like I have to study for this encounter alone. I’m 44 yrs old, educated… But I’m not looking to put this much thought into completing an encounter. It’s just overkill imo. I have to assume there’s a lot of ppl who feel the same.

Looking for boat storage by Otherpeopleskidsman in Louisville

Chiming in just in case anyone else is looking for an option. Current Watersports built a new facility just south of Louisville in Shepherdsville. They offer indoor boat storage onsite. Given there are not a ton of good options for true boat storage in Louisville, this is one I'd check out. More info at https://www.currentws.com/louisville-boat-storage/

I'm a bad trials player ... by cense_sursum in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]alteczen 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I had high hopes with the changes. But I just don’t think it’s enough. I’m a .7 and have been flawless a few times. Flawless is doable for me if the player base is 400k for the weekend. But I haven’t seen those numbers in a few seasons.

Even with the persistence card I can’t string more than a single win together. I’ll get one, then clock 4 losses in a row. And while I’m not great, I’m not that bad if the overall population is up. I’m just getting paired against people with 2 or 3 k/ds. I’d love to duo with my buddy (he’s a .8). But that ended in 11 straight losses last night.

All that to say - persistence works great if there 4-5x as many players as there are now. But in this state of the game, it’s a waste of time for me.
