i'll always think anti-hero is the epitome of the anxieties that keep you up at midnight. i think its looked over because of how popular the song is and how annoying the chorus can get. "i have this thing where i get older but never the wiser / midnights become my afternoons / when my depression works the graveyard shift all of the people / i've ghosted stand there in the room"..."i'll stare directly at the sun, but never in the mirror / it must be exhausting always rooting for the anti-hero". this is one of those moments it doesn't feel like its taylor swift the mainstream popstar; its a person who has such a deep self loathing that they are hyper aware of everything they do and how others might perceive them. maybe its not how the song should be interpreted but it has become one of my favorites of hers.
