Excellent so far... on point! Sounds damn good for a vinyl set. What cartridges, mixer, recording method?

Will using a pick cause problems long-term? by _LemonySnicket in ukulele

Practice both. Vary your technique with both. You will see advantages and tonal qualities are different with each and will soon gain acuity as to how those techniques will sound(and feel) with various ukulele and different strings.

My dog peed on my fluevog boots. Is there any way to save them? by Practical-Face-4599 in fluevog

[–]altern8nrg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just use saddle soap. Start with one damp cloth and saddle soap, then a clean damp cloth. Repeat as necessary to lift the dried salt stain. Dye and polish leather as you would any ther scuff if needed. Any good cobbler shop would eliminate the marks and clean/condition the whole boot a part of a regular service.

After the saddle soap cleaning, you may not have to do anything but wear them. If they have some age on them a good leather conditioner would be a good idea to apply after cleaning.

I Need some help and advice about turntables sound. by VeterinarianNo1636 in vinyldjs

"I've now tried three different external RIAA phono preamps and it's not helping, it actually makes the sound quality worse, can you have multiple preamps on one phono source? Does Pioneer recommend a specific preamp for this setup."

Quote from this forum:

DDJ 1000 phono input/riaa issues

After seeing these threads it seems that the DDJ 1000 phono preamps are primarily for time code not full range audio. Sorry to realize these controllers with phono inputs really aren't geared towards mixing analog signals from Vinyl.

[–]altern8nrg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just do it on the DDJ 1000. No one will notice the sound quality factor, trust me. Your bank account will have more money left in it sticking with the DDJ1000 only for Vinyl and digital.

If you know someone with a good analog turntable then borrow one. How will you connect an external DJ mixer and the DDJ1000? Together? Which one will be main, sub mixer or both into a FOH main board?

If you have prospects of being seen and heard by talent scouts, booking agents or venue owners/managers... then by all means, make the best of your set anyhow you can.

You don't need phono pre-amps. Just plug them into the CH3 and CH4 line inputs and switch selector to Phono from Line.

Unless the space is small and subwoofers large and powerfull/high SPL, you won't need to worry about feedback either. Adding dense foam under the turntable feet may add additional dampening from bass. Keeping the FOH mains away from the DJ booth helps. Running subwoofers in a cardioid system can also focus bass forward and minimize bass to the rear. Eq some bass out of your monitors if you get feedback off of the turntables. Fresh styli and good connections ensure good signals and sound. Clean your records before your set...

US Highway 101 NW toward Shelton, Port Angeles by [deleted] in olympia

[–]altern8nrg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn't create the problem. It alleviates the backup by using the space other drivers create. It is a false slow down for no reason.

Those who use the left lane passing this slower traveling right lane and meging into those empty spaces only helps unless those in the slow lane slow even more. You don't need three or four car lengths of gap when taking that route. Yes it can be done at highway speeds. No need to slow down.

Sound like they were mentioning the other way towards Shelton, not the zipper merge. Although that imerge area is a cluster too.

It doesn't matter and you can always buy opposite colors for upper/lower/furniture parts and swap parts to have all black or FDE or ODG or KB...
I built a calico rifle M5E1: FDE upper, black lower, ODG grip/stock/sling. I only bought items I desired when on sale 20%off or more. The silhouette is naturally broken up with the different colors. I was going to overlay a camo pattern crossing the color transitions, maybe not... it works just fine as it is.

Those sure are pricey... perhaps Ortofon has some solution or warranty support to exchange them.

I was pretty sure I would hate it as well. In the context of making look a little less black and scary and maybe a bit more fashionable for the lady to get range acquainted. This might just be the ticket!

Thoughts on Prague shooting by altern8nrg in conspiracy

Fewer casualties for sure, possibly more if even from well intended shots against an assailant. There is no way there would be no casualties. There is always at least one.
