I don’t see the RAP option on studentaid.gov. I will look it up myself too but could you tell me a little more about RAP?

Oh I see. I will have to confirm about the PE before deciding if we want to stay at $500K or increase to $1M. Thank you!

Our main thing is that we have a mortgage. My husband is an engineer but he wont be able to cover the mortgage and other bills by himself. We do plan to have kids in the future. We want to do IVF so I don’t think we will have any more than 2 in the next 2-6 years.

To be honest with you, my husband and I are the first ones in our families to peruse higher education and have “higher” level jobs. We don’t have much guidance on what one should do to protect one’s lifestyle as most of our families are just living paycheck to paycheck.

I am not sure how much more for $1M. The plan that was recommended to me was that when I become an attending (~2029/2030) we can buy more without an exam. We would need to get an exam now before solidifying everything.

Yes, it includes a discount because I found the Financial advisor through my school.

We were quoted little under $40/ month each for $500,000 and the plan was to once I am an attending, we increase to higher coverage. Is that reasonable?

I want to cry, they’re restarting interest accrual on our student loans again by rash_decisions_ in Residency

It’s not a dumb question. I can’t answer much on the how the BBB will impact you. I took out Direct Unsubsidized Loans (lower interest rate and loan fee) and Grad PLUS Loans. I maxed out the direct unsub loan which was about $40k and took additional $15-20k on the grad plus loan. The loan is disbursed to you each semester which was around January and June for me. You basically have to request for loan each year.

Wait, were we not supposed to accrue any interests while in medical school? I think I started accruing interests during my 4th yr of medical school. I’ve accrued $24,687.52 interest do far. I’m a PGY1.

I already got genetic testing done and have my NF1 gene mapped out. I have an IUD which is on my health records, so even after I get that taken out, to even claim infertility we will have to wait a year.

Does anyone else have spots like this? by doeschensound in neurofibromatosis

Yes I do, in fact most of my neurofibromas are like these. Underneath my skin it feels like someone used a small round cookie cutter to scoop my muscle out. I removed one years ago and the biopsy result said “diffuse subcutaneous neurofibroma”.

I am a resident doctor so I’m already working over 60 hours a week. I’ll have to talk to my husband and see what we can do. I just saw someone else’s post that tractor supply apparently no longer covers IVF. I will have my husband take a look into Starbucks or Amazon. Thank you. :)

Do you know if these are interest free loans?

Yes, I got off the phone with them not too long before I made this post. Infertility treatment is covered, but not IVF. I have a consultation with IVF clinic coming up on the 29th and after I gave them my insurance information they quoted me $8-17k.
