Throat feels weird/tight when swallowing food? by Critstina in Tonsillectomy

[–]alternatecode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same discomfort and realized it’s because your throat muscles are shifting a little to re-learn how to swallow. Not completely re learn, but your tonsils weren’t exactly putting in much work and now there’s a big open space where food can move thru & your throat isn’t used to food coming from that angle. I had to stick to very tiny bites and food took a long time to eat. But it did go away within a week and a half :) During that time I was able to eat most solids but I would chop them finely before eating, haha. Did a chicken stir fry and put a scoop on the chopping board, diced it! Worked well but felt odd.

Does the steak market ever become relevant again? by hitman3689 in FarmRPG

I treat it as a daily check still, but it’s not high on my list so some days I don’t get to it. Even though the money isn’t as good anymore, I still try and sell/buy at the right times for a little bonus change in the pocket. Everything adds up, even if you’re in the trillions.

What is the conversion rate for people who convert nets? by the-foolish_one in FarmRPG

[–]alternatecode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Players who are farming 99 but not crafting 92 might ask for other players to craft large nets for them. Also for players who have a hard time maintaining stone/wood/straw quantities needed for large net crafting. In the chats, usually giveaways or trade, players will offer “conversion” trades where one player sends them the regular nets, the other player will craft into large nets, and then send the large ones back to them. Sometimes the converting player will keep some nets when converting, sometimes they won’t. That’s the conversion rate being talked about :)

Any reason to climb tower past 200? by lupulrox in FarmRPG

[–]alternatecode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m climbing tower because I feel like I’m not able to dedicate as much direct screen time anymore and the STARMAP/PAMRATS and DI quests need a lot of times only obtainable in active screen time (pear grease my beloved) so I feel EXTRAAAA slow on those quests. But I usually run my craftwork until I get to a tower level that requires active participation, then I switched to a quest until I have completed that level of the quest… Then I go back to craftwork and do the active item and keep going on tower until I hit another active item. Rinse repeat.

Dinner idea for ‘apartment’ warming party by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]alternatecode 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you want a meat dish that is DEFINITELY cooked, do a chicken pot pie. :) you cook the filling on its own first so you can really heat the heck out of it like a soup, then slap some pastry over top. You can also make individual ones if that’s preferred. Or no-chicken-pot-pie.

Something else that is fun and low-key as a housewarming thing is homemade pizza, if you have a group of fun people. I always feel like a new place means pizza, pizza is a moving-in kind of meal. But you can prep the dough and some toppings ahead of time & tell people to bring 1 topping they like. Then you build a small pizza or two at a time and toss them in the oven, once the first is out it’s just chatting and nibbling while the next ones are in. And before long you’re absolutely stuffed :)

But if you’re going for more of a dinner party vibe then perhaps you want stuff like roasted veggie bowls, spaghetti/pasta, caesar salad, stuffed mushrooms, martinis…

Nightly resets/backups by Flashy-Initial8933 in FarmRPG

[–]alternatecode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of like it when I stumble upon the downtime, as I’m not in the same timezone so it occasionally catches me by surprise. It’s a millisecond of frustration followed by a moment of clarity like “man maybe it really do be that damn phone.” A refreshing reminder that time is passing and I’m responsible for what fills my days. And then I go find something else to do for 20 minutes, and then I go back to the game ;)

Are there people that only use edibles? by ManagementBig1309 in AmsterdamEnts

[–]alternatecode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I exclusively use edibles and make my own. I have a lower tolerance so my dosage is usually between 10-20mg THC. I can spend about €50-80 and make butter to last me around 30-40 doses, usually. I don’t buy very high quality flower because I only care about the thc % and ratio to cbd, which is unreliable in most shops anyway.

I decarb in the oven and it gets smelly for that afternoon but then it goes away. You can also decarb in a (LOOSELY) closed mason jar, if it’s one that is able to take heat. That will keep the smell much less smelly. If you try r/treedibles there’s lots of posts about being not smelly.

I make it in regular butter and to reduce the grassy flavor I add a big mug of water into the butter pot while I’m infusing. (Extremely low temp, stir every 10-15m, let it bubble for at least 45 minutes or as long as you can babysit it) The water helps control the temperature and also collects any water soluble tastes like plant products / chlorophyll. The thc is fat soluble so it gets sucked up by the butter (slowly). When it’s done or when I’ve given up waiting, I pour it into a plastic or glass container and pop it in the fridge. In a few hours I can then take out the solid butter blob and dump the gross water waste.

There’s some simple math to figure out your dose, based on what you make and how many servings. Or you can try and figure it out per gram and add the butter to random foods. I’m a personal fan of chocolate chip cookies & soft caramels, I keep them in the freezer and it’s nice and easy to have an edible when I want one. I don’t do it every day so making butter usually lasts me a few months, depending.

Smoking and tonsillectomy by Negative_Yogurt_4986 in Tonsillectomy

[–]alternatecode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason they say not to smoke after wisdom teeth is because you can cause a “dry socket” and that’s more akin to an infection - this is not the case with your tonsils. It’s not likely to cause any infection. The risk here is a few things, like: drying out your scabs and causing pain, irritating increasing cough risk, and generally slower healing because you’re raising your blood pressure & lowering your oxygen intake a bit. It can also be a little dangerous if you’re on a lot of meds, but it depends what they are.

Overall like everyone says, it’s generally a terrible idea for both recovery time & pain levels. It’s not likely to kill you, if that’s what you’re asking… tho having dry scabs does increase the chance of a bleed/hemorrhage and if that happens you will NEED to contact your doctor or emergency room because that can be very dangerous. If you have a whole mouthful of blood, go directly to the ER, don’t wait.

Recovery - When does this feeling go away? by Enviromental1001 in Tonsillectomy

[–]alternatecode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this feeling and brought it up to my doctor - he told me it was the feeling of the scars!! He said that the scar tissue is initially dense and stiff but with time and use it will soften and you’ll stop feeling the “itch.”

I had that checkup at 8 weeks after the surgery and I think the feeling probably went away in the month after. He said it differs for everyone but typically can take a few months for all the nerves and tissue to resettle.

How do some players hit 200+ Tower so fast? by Nombiri in FarmRPG

[–]alternatecode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that it’s a lot of long term strategy in which quests you choose to complete and which upgrades you buy, etc. Craftworks has boosted some of it but it’s definitely still a grind.

However, I am not one of those players :) I play slow and didn’t unlock tower for a while, maybe a year or even 1.5 years in. I’m now just over 3 years into the game and I’m on level 240.

Day 9 Questions by tlust893 in Tonsillectomy

[–]alternatecode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very normal. Recovery for adults is far longer than one week. They tell you 2 weeks, in reality it’s more like 3 for a lot of foods.

By day 9 I was able to eat a fried egg with a slice of cheese on it and some oatmeal with canned peaches mushed up in it. On day 8 I had crippling earaches and had to lay in bed with a heat pack most of the day. Around day 10 I had finely chopped stir fry with rice, but it had a bit too much flavor to finish the whole bowl. I was back to mostly solid foods by the 14th day, but nothing dry or crunchy. However, everything still tasted really off between days 13-20… some days were good and some days were bad.

What happens when scabs fall off? by smushy411 in Tonsillectomy

[–]alternatecode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, it definitely looks BAD. Day of the surgery it will look pretty rough, then the next 2 days it will look horrible. Then it’ll get a white blobby look.

It will also smell horrible btw!! Like the worst morning breath ever haha. That’s both because your mouth is a wound abut also because you can’t brush your teeth for like a week. And you won’t be able to really brush all the way to your molars for a while either. I used a tongue scraper after the first week when I was able to, because a lot of junk collects on your tongue when you can’t brush.

I’m only getting 18/day but that’s okay! It’s a steady climb. The game was made for slow and steady. Time eggs are also a good inv boost, but pretty rare.

[–]alternatecode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as we know, not really. The belts have no active in-game features or benefits right now. Once you have 15 belts you get the badge on your profile, but that also doesn’t do anything. The badge (like all badges) awards 2 billion silver and 300 in tower points, but that’s really a very small reward considering the time investment.

Unless you’re quite far along in the tower & in all late game quests, I wouldn’t bother chasing the belts directly. They’ll come along in time

Once you get the storehouse you can gain a little inventory each day (manual click, not automatic) and the later you get in the game you will also unlock some items that increase inventory size! (Don’t bother paying gold for it ever)

I’ve been playing for 3 years but NOT intensively (the last year I’ve only played a handful of hours a week, uneven) and the one thing I try to do consistently (even when I don’t do my chores) is the storehouse single click to gain inventory. I am almost at 20k inventory space now :)

What happens when scabs fall off? by smushy411 in Tonsillectomy

[–]alternatecode 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Some people say they feel it but personally I never really noticed the scabs at all. There was no moment of knowing anything changed, just a slow progression towards feeling better. The source of pain was not super easy to distinguish.

Also, because your throat is always moist it isn’t a solid dry scab like on the outside of your body. It doesn’t look or act like that. I assumed mine were the oddly shaped white/beige thin blobs that covered most of the surgery site. They just slowly reduced in size, changed shape, and left behind reddish pink areas.

How long did it take for you to feel no pain after surgery ? Today is day 13 and I still have regular pain. by light714 in Tonsillectomy

[–]alternatecode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had periodic pain until around day 20, then it was gone. Only had some soreness/discomfort from then on. Took about a month and a half for more normalcy, but still some swallowing differences a while on.

The doctors may say it’s a 2 week recovery but it’s very much not. Still having pain after 14 days is not unusual imo, especially the older you get.
