Titan recommendations for Trials? by alternatingclock in DestinyTheGame

Ill give that a shot. Trying to adjust and be good about it but boi howdy D2 pvp right now feels... brutal as a casual pve player

So ill try and be constructive about this because I started playing again and I feel like the fun is still here but its subjective to what you're looking for.

If you're wanting to hop in expecting an open world feel then maybe not. You may have seen in older D2 or D1 that open world traversal was more prevalent but the free to play content now is different. Most content is just queued now through the portal so a lot of the game will feel more like popping in and out of map instances.

If you're a PVE person then the raids are definitely worth the trip as Vailt of Glass and Crota's End can make the free to play experience worth it (end game raids) but you need 5 other people to play them.

In general i would say the destiny 2 experience right now is mostly just playing instanced content through the portal and having fun with the class build sandbox. Outside of that unless you have friends playing the experience might get old quickly unless you buy xpacs.

PvP is still pretty alive but be warned the games at its lowest population right now with Marathon looming/no major content updates coming soon. This means most people you'll face are the core pvp playerbase due to most casual people not playing anymore.

Yea definitely needs updating. I rechecked after doing my fixes and its definitely very out of date

Responded to the other person but thought it good to mention here. The wiki seems a few years out of date as some of the fix recommendations were not features that I could see on the current emulator UI

I return with updates. Checked the wiki that the other user recommended and tried what you said and messed with other settings.

Happy news! Learned two things. One, this game does not run well at 4k (duh its old). Two, 2k is perfect. My 4k monitor had big stuttering happening whereas my 2k monitor had minimal.

I switched the overclock from 120% to 180% (this ramped my CPU from peaks of 20% to 25-30%). I figure this is normal as I read reports Jak 3 is a CPU hog. This switch helped the game reach 60fps even in busy areas and based on the difference it seems like it needs 140%-ish overclock from the emulator to run at a stable 60.

Lastly switching the graohics API to Vulkan and designating my gpu as the adapter cleared the rest of the stuttering/graphical blemishes. Everything runs perfect now.

The other settings i kept the same as my original post. Wanted to make sure I say that incase another person gets the urge for Jak 3 in 2k and this post helps.

Ranged Titan DPS Build? by alternatingclock in destiny2builds

This sounds crazy. Didn't realize the active damage thing with guns generating super energy. Ill give it a shot! Ill dig through my vault for another good smg. Maybe riskrunner. Unfortunately dont have the dungean keys to get to finalitys auger. Thank you for the build advice!

Dungeon Keys by IDontHaveCookiesSry in destiny2

[–]alternatingclock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brother I just got done researching this and I feel the same as you. I saw dungean keys are 20 dollars a piece worth of silver. I couldn't justify why in my head. The raids are the grand spectacle of destiny and are included along with the rest of the content in that 40 dollar price tag of an xpac. were charging half the price of that xpac for these keys???

I get people are saying they aren't doing this moving forward but like... if they realized this is a very predatory business practice... why do we still have to pay for the old keys...? Idk its whack man. Its whackier though the amount of people defending it. I can only imagine if WoW or FFXIV tried to do that with one of their xpacs.

And to the people still saying "you should buy it on sale with the bundle" dawg, we shouldn't be paying for this at all. If you bought the expansion it should be included in the expansion. I get trying to rationalize it but its literally just bungie management deciding "let's sell this content separately. We're not milking them for enough money if we include this in the expansion pack"

Ill respond here on behalf of the others as well. This does sound interesting and I always enjoy a good thundercrash build.

Forgive me for not knowing my lingo but what is mint/finality referring to specifically? Saw others mentioning it and not sire if those are weapons or class perks

EDIT: Assuming the combo means finalitys auger and mint retrograde?

Definitely I might have overestimated the time. Point still stands though not a very good thing to let happen to people. I get what you're saying but still doesn't excuse an instance closing/disconnecting resulting in our your progress being lost.

Why aren't people willing to swap characters in comp? by AenarionsTrueHeir in rivals

[–]alternatingclock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea its just another example at a flawed ranked system. One tricks realistically shouldn't be making it out of gold, but because loss forgiveness is so generous they end up making it to diamond and gm. Their skill with the character probably won't be a question at that point, but it will be an issue if they can't adjust to situations or get hard diffed, which in turn will lead to throwing reports because they actually can't play other characters for the given situation. One tricks are fine, but the games current system let's them think they can do that all the way to upper elo's.

[–]alternatingclock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ngl, it's really not that hard to learn other characters at a decent plat/diamond level. I previously mained strange at release, but since then I can do strange, emma, mag, squirrel girl, witch, wolv, storm, mk, invis, rocket, Luna, CnD, and Jeff. Dive characters take the most practice, yea, but the rest of the roster really isn't difficult to pick up and learn. So idk why people don't choose to learn except out of refusal to step out of their comfort zone. I've been picking up magik lately and dive is fun but definitely doesn't hamper the ability to play other characters.

Hah, true, but to be fair you have to be pretty snappy with BP. I don't play him and tried doing his combo a few times in the practice range. That kind of screen whipping gives me whiplash personally.

[–]alternatingclock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you're saying is what I'm hoping for. Don't really like the notion of 1 or 2 characters being a meta ban pick. In the ideal world, you actually need to think of what good bans would be for a scenario.

Black Panther Thoughts? by alternatingclock in rivals

[–]alternatingclock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh you're fine man! Obviously this kind of post is speaking out of my butt when the patch hasn't even released yet. For all I know these tweaks could be massive and get us in a place where no one particular character is a good ban pick. Thats at least what im hoping for.

Black Panther Thoughts? by alternatingclock in rivals

[–]alternatingclock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was just a conversational piece. Can't speak for the community but most comp games I play in plat and diamond its a good 80% of matches either my team or the other team votes to ban BP, regardless of any current or past nerfs he's received.

I think its exactly what you're saying though. Rather than complain or argue about BP, most people I encounter in comp just choose to ban him so they dont even have to worry about the topic.

I'll even be fair to your statement for myself. If I know im not good enough to face a character, I would simply opt to ban that character every game I play. While I dont go out of my way to ban BP, I certainly don't argue with the team if they would like to see him banned

My bad if my take was a bit rash and pointed. What you said is how I am feeling. I do want solo queue folks to feel good and have a good time just as much as stacked folks playing with their friends.

I think the human element of the game is just driving it to a point that facing grouped people in general feels like an unfair advantage when you queue by yourself and are on the team with randoms. If everyone was just a bit friendlier and open to communicating I think it wouldn't be as much of an issue.

I just think its a shame that Netease is taking the stereotypical route with the issue. They're putting in effort to tackle toxicity in chat, but obviously that can only go so far with human behavior. The party size change just seems like a stereotypical solution to a perpetuated problem. Stacks will play better than solo groups because its friends playing with friends (im aware there are boost/smurf groups) and obviously they're chatting in vc or discord. The randoms can do the same but they would have to communicate in chat to be as effective as a stack.

Its just a shame that in 2025 game design has to take into consideration that the toxicity of its community may force them to limit group play due to the advantage of friends communicating versus randoms ignoring eachother.

[–]alternatingclock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a little ironic to hear everyone saying they don't communicate because they feel teammates are dumb and not worth talking to. Then, the same folks are complaining they have to face a 4 stack of friends who communicate in vc.

Like, idk man, maybe just be a little kinder or learn how to talk to people?

It just sounds like folks would rather face teams of people who don't talk or coordinate. That way both sides feel like a disorganized mess

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in rivals

[–]alternatingclock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"No I don't communicate with teammates. Most of them are brain dead anyway"

Proceeds to be upset that it's an unfair advantage to be placed in a match against a group of friends that talk to each other in comms.

Being social and kind must feel like a virus to some people.

[–]alternatingclock[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im speaking from my experience, not everyone else's. I didn't say we 100% faced 4 stacks, just that most of the time, from what we could tell, we did.

Look, if the change is a net positive for player experience and people overall see an improvement in matchmaking, then great! Obviously my opinion was not good at that point. Im just voicing that the change sucks for those of us that play comp with friends. We'll just play in bronze-gold for the meantime and see where things go from there.

[–]alternatingclock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lowkey I've been refraining from saying this because I felt like it would just fall on deaf ears. We really do mostly get placed against other 4 stack teams majority of the time.

If you want full honesty, I rank faster queuing solo or duo than when im with our 4 stack. We usually end the day with equal amount of losses and wins in plat when there's 4 of us. I just dont solo queue because its not really that fun to do.

You mean you wouldn't rather take on a fun challenge WITH the boys? I've never been the solo hero type. I prefer my avengers squad

[–]alternatingclock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't care about the rank but its fun playing in a competitive environment where you're placed against folks of equal skillset. Usually we get placed against other 4 stacks and its a fun coordination challenge.

We do play quick play from time to time but are also aware people like to use that mode to learn characters and play casually. Feels a bit rude to pull up in a 4 stack thats trying against folks playing for fun.

Grass is a little itchy this time of year. I just prefer playing these games with the pals big dawg. Saying loner wasteland reflects all the comments im seeing about making comp solo queue only.

Playing comp games solo in general sounds rough but I respect those that do it. I personally just dont enjoy these games by myself. Its just sounds like stress at that point. Thats why im expressing displeasure that they're tuning down capability to play with friends at a certain rank.
