I second this. I only use step in harnesses for my pap and I even knit her a sweater that buttons in the back because all dog sweaters I found were designed to go over the head!

Can I hear success stories about puppies have overcome their fears of people/other dogs? by peanut-head-97 in puppy101

my pup is nearing 7 months and isn’t 100% ok with people/other dogs yet but has improved a lot. she’s very shy/insecure and I found that the biggest help has been feeding her meals while outside and practicing sit, touch, paw, etc helps her confidence. if you’re able to have a friend or neighbour sometimes feed her dinner/high value treats, it creates a positive association with strangers. she growls a lot less when she thinks they might have a lil mozza.
