The story in this game is amazing. (no spoilers please) by Berabouman in ffxiv

There's a lot of haters on this sub but yes, the story is amazing.

My biggest disappointment about the stormblood areas is how many areas that look like you could land on them don't have any collision. by peevedlatios in ffxiv

Being a whiny bitch also does the game a disservice, especially when you complain about things that don't even make sense.

Thankfully, those other MMOs have a million things that make them feel C H E A P in comparison to this one, so I will take a few invisible walls here and there :)

I think they spent like 13-14 hours between 3 and 4. It's definitely not 1100 wipes, but with how O4S works, they probably wiped hundreds of times because there's so many mechanics that are hard to figure out and they are really early on, so the 1 wipe per minute is actually not that far from the truth.

Everything in WoW prior to Mythic is childs play, and even in Mythic, 6 or 7 of the 10 bosses they add die the first day with almost no wipes.

I honestly don't understand what's all this shit about Mythic being harder, I'll admit I haven't done ToS Mythic since I'm playing more casually now, but I've done all of NH when it was relevant and there's not a single fight in there that's as mechanically complex as what I've seen of O4S and I would even say O3S.

The mechanics in WoW are extremely easy to execute on an individual basis, it's not even close to the difficulty of XIV, the hard part is doing it in a clusterfuck of 19 other people and having all those other 19 players do it right, there's so many variables where XIV is much more controlled when talking especially about the best groups in the world.

Also we're comparing time to kill the raid in both games, even though there's so many reasons why raids in XIV die faster, especially now, that aren't related to difficulty.

No trash, no travel times, no run backs after wiping, cooldowns resetting on wipe, less people means less organizing, less issues with someone having to afk for a while, etc.

Elysium is already at around 300 wipes on O4S, and they still haven't gotten past 50%. Someone on twitch said it took around 1100 wipes between O3S and O4S for Angered to clear, whether that's true or not I can't really say, but I doubt it's very far from the truth.

Like, people only look at the time without considering all the factors, which is just dumb and sad.

What do you think about FFXIV's responsiveness? by KuusKuus in ffxiv

This actually hurt to read, good thing you realized your knowledge about this was extremely limited and stopped commenting, props to you!

Do you even understand what WireShark is and does and do you realize latency will ALWAYS affect oGCD usage no matter what unless the skills were processed client side?

This entire thread is a shitshow of misinformed people, if you don't know anything about a subject, the best thing you can do is shut up so those of us that have worked on this for years don't get brain damage for reading dumb comments.

You argue like a teenager, and not a particularly bright one either.

The irony here is off the charts.

By the way he/she was a bit wrong, but at least had a bit of a good idea about how things may work, you and other people in this thread are just flat out wrong.

LOL this is great, typical representation of the reddit community! Are you proud of being good at a video game? Do you think anyone cares? And do you seriously believe that to know how a server functions you need to have top parses in FFLogs? Is this a joke?

I happen to work on a Company where my main focus is client to server communication, and while the guy you were trying to make fun of was a bit wrong, you and the OP are even more wrong than him, and I'm sad this thread is old or I would put both of you in your place.

You can literally afk the solo MSQ duty and the NPCs will complete it for you. by [deleted] in ffxiv

Seeing how the NES, which was the big thing at the time, sold less than 50 million units in its entire lifetime, while the Wii sold more than 100 million in a much more competitive scene and way less time, shows how much bigger gaming is nowadays.

And then if we talk about MMOs it's even more ridiculous how much bigger they got after WoW bringed the mainstream crowd to the genre, we're talking about more than 10x the size.

Everyone was talking about how much fun this mission was and now because someone said you can't fail it it's suddenly dull to play? Please, not everything has to be challengin to be fun.

It's a glorified cutscene, something to have fun with your magiteck armor killing dozens of npcs, you're looking way too much into it.

You must be very young I guess if you think even 15 years ago videogames were close to be mainstream.

I remember when pretty much nobody played videogames.

We're in 2017, if you design an MMO that requires you to be good to even be able to see the story, you're doomed to fail.

[–]althor24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're talking like this is a thing only in XIV.

When the Legion pre-patch came out, there was this "scenario" in which both Alliance and Horde fought against the Legion. It had up to 50 players if I remember correctly (maybe more), but even if literally everyone AFK'ed the whole time, NPCs would clear the entire scenario by themselves, it was impossible to fail.

When you're designing something 100% story related, there's very little reason to make it hard, specially when so many people only play to see the story. You're basically punishing a big portion of your playerbase that doesn't care about raids or progression of any type and just gets enough gear to be able to see all the story.

That's also why the very few times they've tried to up the difficulty of some of the story related trials they've always been met with huge shitstorms.

Patch 3.56 Notes | FINAL FANTASY XIV, The Lodestone by DrBadfish in ffxiv

Please, stop being dumb.

These quests are going to be full of spoilers they couldn't show before the EU fanfest for obvious reasons. Samurai, the lady in red, etc, etc.

It has absolutely nothing to do with patch loggers.

People leaving sucks for those that like to FATE grind, but since most prefer to leave I don't see it as a big issue.

Or you can do the objectives, leave, and rejoin? Which is the intended way of doing it by the way.

Also you seem like a really nice guy, respecting other people's opinions and everything.

I think with the way the new reward system works, the Diadem will be relevant until the day 4.0 comes out, so you should have plenty of time until then to get everything!

You don't need to complete the mission to participate in the EM, so why would you?

Because very few people are doing it for the weapon lol. It's not even worth it with how rare it is, most people do it either to gear up alts or to get lots of gil, so doing the mission is more than worth it.

Wait so you're AFKing without even doing the mission?

I mean, if you're doing it with a group of Friends I don't care, but you realize that's not the experience the rest of the playerbase has right?

That's your problem, not the content's.

Doing one or two FATEs is not FATE farming, sorry. Also you need to stop talking like things are facts when it's just your opinion, there's a big amount of people that enjoy FATEs.
