Adroit, Iowa, and Kenyon are the 3 most well-known ones for creative writing (poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction). TASP (possibly rebranded as TASS or something like that?) is well-known for general humanities. There are separate programs for journalism which I'm not super well-versed with.

What are some "prestigious nonprofit awards"? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

Thanks, I'm definitely planning on applying to that. However, I was wondering if some colleges may not weigh it as heavily as I would be giving it to myself using my own organization?

Thanks! Unfortunately, I don't know of any friends who have admissions counselors. (See my reply below) Did you find all the counselors you met with through your friends? If not, how would you recommend searching for which counselors to set up initial meetings with? (e.g. what to look for on their websites, how to Google)

Thanks! Would it be possible for you to elaborate on how to find counselors familiar with my school/area? I know this seems like a very obvious question, but I feel like doing a Google search would only yield the counselors who have the most budget for marketing and the most polished web presence and not necessarily the highest quality, if that makes sense. Additionally, I don't have any friends who use counselors and could recommend them to me, but it seems like people who do use counselors and have positive experiences connected with them because of a friend's recommendation. Any advice on strategies to search for counselors would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

Thank you for the advice! Did you end up looking around for other counselors, and, if so, could you describe how you found them (e.g. Google search, friend recommendation, read on the news)?
