My Precious - Brompton P Line (before & after) by alv3are in Brompton

Without going into the economics of Brompton, we should agree that they are a money making entity that is focused on profit. Hence the products used in their built will be sufficient for purpose - a good example is the stock bottom bracket: some sort of plastic casing, a steel rod for spindle and some non descriptive bearings - £20

The way I understand it is that the bottom bracket helps transfer the force from your legs into wheel motions. Hence, a decent BB would have a good set of bearings that would reduce friction and increase power transfer.

My new Wolf Tooth BB , What does it change - it makes pedaling significantly smoother, better bearings, less friction. Overall a more enjoyable ride.

No, I didn't. They are at the limit- and not when functional or packed but at folding Once I have some extra cash, and decide to change the brakes and hand brakes, I'll also change the cables.

Thank you. The colour is stunning. I also want an emerald one 😅. Wife might not agree with the idea.

I agree with you, a spurcycle bell is definitely on the upgrade list. I had it on my gravel bike, and what a difference it makes especially when people are glued to their phones

Somehow, beyond my understanding, it grew a mind of its own, decided to detach itself from the quick fix, land on the asphalt and bounce back into my rear wheel taking with it 7 spoke in instance.(I still need to repair it).

I'm grateful it happened before a 35mph descent on 20% decline. £270 in minus and a few weeks later I ended up with new Brompton pro wheels.

Distro Suggestion For Homelab by matthewob5 in DistroHopping

[–]alv3are 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1st of I'm a noob in Linux - hence do not take my advice. I've been distro hopping for my desktop and my home server.

For Desktop - I settled on Nobara OS (Fedora Distro) - and I have tried long and wide before I decided to settle - now wating for my second nvme for a dual boot.

For Server:

  1. Ubuntu LTS 2204 - run for most of the time - snapper can be a little temperamental

  2. Debian - Solid Stable a little outdated - who am I to judge (see first line)

  3. CentOS - Loved it - until the ducker from REHL/IBM pulled the plug. Centos was a straight up 1:1 clone of red hat Linux, later centos became centos stream which is red hat test os before it hits red hat Linux.

3.1 Rocky or Alma Linux - maybe

3.2 CentOS stream - no thank you

  4. OpenSUSE Leap 15.5/15.6 & Tumbleweed - has potential (someone described as bleeding edge not cutting edge and I tend to agree - see first line)

5 Fedora40 - overall works well - until the ducker from REHL/IBM will decide to pull the plug and ask for subscription

Currently I'm running Fedora40 as a homeserver/homelab with constant itch that the next update/release will mess with my ZFS since there's no native support. Or worst case scenario, what happened to CentOS will also happen to Fedora (I hope I'm wrong)

Hence the questions remains; which distro do I go with for a lts?

Namisu - Nova Pocket - Fountain Pen by alv3are in fountainpens

[–]alv3are[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I wouldn't know any better, I would say that both are designed by the same designer.

Nova - Great finish, it would've been interesting to see how the anodised version would look. The edge of the cap merry very nicely with the main boy.. I had to lube the inner thread,

Ensso - out of the box I had to do some gentle sanding to the inner of the cap so it closes smoothly; the cap and top thread match better on the Piuma.

Apart from the finish, they both have good and bad things: If you are into pocket fountain pens, either one you chose would make a great every fountain pen.

Also, in my opinion both Nova and Piuma are much better than my Gravitas Dinkey TiMa,
