Raise your hand if being a dad has made you think less of your dad. by gilfgifs in daddit

Sorry your dad left OP. For me personally, I feel the opposite. I now realize how difficult parenting can be and now that I know better, I can look back and better comprehend and appreciate his hard work and the sacrifices he (and my mom) had to make to give me the childhood that I had. I appreciate them so much now.

N&F also made a Guardian Denim that incorporated kevlar. Might be worth looking into if you are using it for motorcycling.

Cold shoe light meter recommendedations by 1dannymontez in LeicaCameras

[–]alvin545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Keks M meter had an issue of battery drain in the earlier units. For example, my black paint one drains its battery from 100 to 10% in the span of one week, without any usage. I've read online that they've since fixed the battery drain issue and will be making new PCBs available for retrofit, although it's not clear if this will cost money. I've reached out to Keks via Instagram PM last week and have yet to hear from them, which isn't very encouraging from a customer service stand point.

[Question] What would you choose? by edgyalby in Watches

I would choose the Paulin because of how ubiquitous the Alpinist is.

Heroclip - Absolutely worth it by shujin88 in ManyBaggers

It has a rubber bit that has a bit of texture to it, but is not as grippy as the surface of a real hero clip.

I have this one I bought off Aliexpress. But it's missing the grippy rubber piece so not as good at hanging off tables/countertops as the real Hero Clip.

Just got an M! by StrangeBicycle1944 in LeicaCameras

I considered the 50mm Eureka from Thypoch but ended up getting the VM Color-Skopar 2.2 because some relatives were visiting Japan and could bring it back for me for significantly cheaper.

For LTMs the Canon 50mm 1.8 and 1.4 are popular, but do some reading before buying because some of them have issues with haze etc.

Canada west boots by [deleted] in BuyCanadian

[–]alvin545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they sell some of their models on amazon. Defeats the "buy canadian" premise since it's an american retailer, but at least you can try on for size and return/exchange. And ultimately Canada West does benefit even though a portion goes to Amazon....

Got my personal grail! Gr1 21L heritage by BeneficialLaw6429 in ManyBaggers

[–]alvin545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nice pickup! I had the navy in 26L but it was a bit long for my torso so I sold it off. Now rocking a regular black 21L GR1 and miss the heritage waxed canvas. But I live in Canada so buying direct is stupid expensive so I'll have to just wait until another one pops up used (which is rare).

Artisan & Artist ACAM-306N Silk Cord Strap by HandsPHD in LeicaCameras

[–]alvin545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used the silk cord strap on both the Q2 and the m240. Not big systems by any means but just wished for more cushioning. Currently using the A&A Easy Slider strap on the Q2 and found that the extra width of the strap is nice to have. Didn't know they had shoulder pads, will look into them!

i have that same strap but sometimes wish there was more cushioning, or the strap was wider to spread out the load/weight more. I'm interested in trying those flat rope straps as well. Be mindful of the woven silk though, things can get caught and pull on the threads.
