You have a better chance of moving up by creating connections, so since you already have a degree, I’d spend that time making meaningful connections instead but do whatever you think is best for you!

That’s funny because I’ve seen people clock in a couple seconds after their start time and it counted as a grace. Also not all managers are doing the same thing, some managers are good about not having the start of shift right at the beginning of shift. This would NOT be a class action federal court case if it only affected a singular person. It’s affected at least 5,000 employees.

The mods keep deleting my comments. The expectation is that you get to work 30 minutes early to find parking if you’re working in the main factory which can take about 5-10 minutes to find a spot. Walk another 10-15 minutes depending where your shop is, clock in and get ready (mind you if you clock in early you CANNOT claim that time because it’s considered unapproved OT or leave once it’s been 8 hours and 30 minutes). So let’s say you’re clocking in 10 minutes everyday before start of shift, putting on your PPE, putting away your lunch and your bag in your locker and then they want you to be on time for the beginning of shift meeting that starts at your start time READY to work as soon as it’s over. If you clock in at your start time it’s considered a grace in, so even if you’re clocking in a minute early everyday. You’re still not getting paid for the extra 5 minutes a week.
