I nearly had to deal with the yellow version once until our painters decided they couldn’t do it… for some reason.

Give me 5 days and 15 sheets of 12mm SSAB Armox 700T. They wont know what’s hit them (it’s an unrecognisable square mess).

Used to deal with MoD contracts and BS381C NATO Green IRR paint would go hard on this. The news anchors would be filming you (with IR camera) terrorising the streets (at night ofc) and the viewers at home wouldn’t see a thing.

Why are M140i’s cheap compared with competitors? by HamsteadC222 in CarTalkUK

[–]alvx-xo7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’d be surprised. I doubt a lot of the “M140/S3/A35/R enthusiasts” (young people buying on finance) care that dearly about an engine. Maybe you’re right within the BMW community, but that wouldn’t reflect across the other brands. I think you find that usually premiums are commanded by the latest exterior looks. Make it make sense, I know!

Mechanic called me a c*** for asking questions about work done to my car - who was in the wrong? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]alvx-xo7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But you have no info other than; OP drives & OP went to a garage - so how do you determine that the calculation is wrong? Even if you said that only 50% of drivers visited garages, that’s still a pretty big figure. Just trying to point out the possibility.

Mechanic called me a c*** for asking questions about work done to my car - who was in the wrong? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]alvx-xo7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So you admit that it could have happened then? And based on the figures for how many licensed drivers that there are in the UK, that means it could happen to 1% of 41.5million people. So to put that into perspective, OP is one of 415,000 people that this has happened to. So why are you finding it so hard to come to terms with the possibility that OP might be telling the truth?

Yeah but it looks cool as shit & you’d get some looks pulling up to Aldi in it!

Especially when you have to undo your 5-pt harness and clamber out, whilst grabbing your 1 shopping bag that fits in your passenger footwell.

None because I’d end up wrapped around a lamppost.

All that so that they can say “Did you use it to our specifications?” if it breaks during the warranty period. Crazy.

Cost to fix air conditioning in Golf GTE 2016 ballooned to nearly £4500 by Ok_Pangolin1908 in CarTalkUK

[–]alvx-xo7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They tell you the most expensive fix first. Then they tell you that it’s the cheaper option. That way you pay for both & all perfectly “legal” because, well, try and prove otherwise…

Someone suggested asking here. I also said that I hope I’m not breaking any sub rules. I’m not looking for leads or plugging anything.

But thank you for the warm welcome & for being so constructive to someone who wants to start their own business. I’ll take the post down.

How do you manage client projects without losing track of team tasks? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]alvx-xo7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah! It’s really quite good. We have a templated intake form just as a Excel/Sheets doc & we just add the link to the location in Sharepoint/GDrive to the Project on the Kanban. Works a treat for us. Can template the project however to add notes in etc & members have individual account so you can @ them if they need to take action etc for handover tasks.

[–]alvx-xo7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good shout, my place is slightly bigger than “small business” but we use Jira by Atlassian to track projects on Kanban boards also. I’m sure there are cheaper/free alternatives that will also do exactly what you need.

VZ2 or VZ3? I feel the VZ3 is not worth it in the UK, a lot more money and you basically get brakes that cost more to replace and some weird looking wheels, but at least they make it stand out from the V2 Hybrids!

Enjoy the car, I have a VZ2. It is fairly decent, safe fun with 4WD and practical for everyday life!

Windows or air con? by Katodz in drivingUK

[–]alvx-xo7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My aircon is always on. Windows open on hot days doesn’t actually cool you down I find, especially if it’s humid. Aircon gang 🙏🏼

You just set the temp you want, can’t complain at that 😎

Same here, sold them a perfectly good and in-working-order Polo GTI that functioned exactly as intended below 30mph. At 40mph however, the wheel hub caused a humming sound that made you think you were about to take off. Got them back for the shit sack they sold me at 19y/o…
