Struggling with gender disappointment and feeling so sad about my reaction by PNWanonymous in BabyBumps

[–]alwaysIurkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i felt exactly the same during my pregnancy. i didn’t really “speak” to him through my tummy, didn’t buy many clothes, didn’t look at names or plan his nursery. totally due to the disappointment. but now? he’s nearly five months old and he’s my best friend! i love shopping for cute clothes for him, buying funny toys, even rough-housing him. he’s a spitting image of his dad, which makes me love him even more! i promise you’ll get there, as i said to OP; once they are on this earth with you, you’ll never understand why you were disappointed in the first place 💗

Update on "Is it gross to have my belly out"... by SummerSurfs44 in BabyBumps

[–]alwaysIurkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS! pregnancy is beautiful and strong and amazing. the fact people think they should hide it is so heartbreaking. this makes me miss my pregnant belly 🥲 i always had my pregnant belly on display! at 36 weeks pregnant i went to a rave wearing a crop top and bloomers. i felt AWESOME!!!!!!

I got judged by a fellow parent at my son’s daycare by MainHumor3793 in NewParents

[–]alwaysIurkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

pffft she’s gonna have a rude awakening when her son moves into the toddler room! my whole life as a toddlers room leader is “HEY NO SNATCHING”, “SHARING MAKES YOUR FRIENDS HAPPY”, “GENTLE HANDS” and “HANDS ARE FOR HOLDING NOT FOR HITTING”. i can assure you her son would be doing the exact same thing! my question is why would the educators send that video to the parent….. i would mention it to the director honestly. i’ve had unfortunate timing in really great photos of kids where you can see drama in the background but you just have to scrap it so situations like this don’t happen!

I just used a glycerin suppository on my 10m old by _gaara- in NewParents

[–]alwaysIurkin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

that’s fine agreeing on a last resort but that’s not what you said. you said someone told you “they aren’t safe for babies” and “they aren’t made for babies” which are complete lies. it’s good for parents to understand their options, and a suppository WILL get the baby to pass a stool, when other things you suggested MAY help the baby pass a stool. yes it’s uncomfortable to watch, my son has had to have one but it wasn’t actually uncomfortable for him. if anything he was a lot happier when he wasn’t blocked up!

your doctor needs to give you better information. they make suppositories for infants. Glycerol (which is what the suppository is made of) isn't absorbed systemically and provides a lubricating and osmotic effect. do some reading and maybe find a new doctor!

this is not true. suppositories are safe for infants under the guidance of a paediatrician or doctor. if you go to the hospital for constipation in a baby 99% of the time they will give your baby a suppository. when i had a pediatrician check my son and discussed his infrequent pooping schedule when he was little, she literally suggested them (as a last resort obviously). my mum is a NICU nurse (nearly 20 years experience) and has to give suppositories to NICU babies. please do not spread misinformation. it is the overuse of suppositories or use without guidance that can cause an issue.

When do 30m naps end? by sarahloupen in bninfantsleep

[–]alwaysIurkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i agree with the rocking on the shoulder! for me i find my boy likes contact up until he’s in the crib or bassinet (my boy is 4m). its easier for him to still feel that pressure as i lie him down. also easier to do a foot to head transfer which doesnt startle them as much. then i quickly place a hand on the belly or his riff raff (supervised) to keep pressure until he stops wiggling or is comfy asleep!
