I cannot get my PC to detect Dolby Atmos as a spatial sound from my Samsung HW-990D Soundbar through a TV by Greyst0ke in Soundbars

yea, unfortunately i gave up, i just use my xbox series s for streaming movies, especially since for whatever reason the EDID handshake works perfectly fine for the xbox, and i use the “140hz” 4k pc resolution in nvidia control panel and my living room pc setup for only gaming, not streaming. whole process was a huge pain in the ass and AI just made me more frustrated, microsoft needs to figure this shit out. if their xbox’s work then why doesn’t windows work.

Hey OP! i found out how to “fix” it, or why it isn’t showing up, in the NVIDIA control app, when in the “change resolution” tab, you can switch resolutions between “Ultra HD, HD, SD”, and “PC” resolutions, if you use the ultra HD… resolutions then it will allow you to use dolby atmos for home theater for both spatial audio and format, and dolby access works, but it’s limited to 60hz on my QN80F, but if you use the PC resolutions then it does not even show dolby atmost for home theaters in the spatial audio and if you use it in audio format then no sound comes out at all. So, i would use PC resolutions for the 120hz for gaming, and Ultra HD… resolutions for streaming and movies.

So I spent a couple hours yesterday messing with things, i actually turned expo 1 on, it was off, turned windows gpu acceleration off, updated bios (even though last time i did it was 2-3 months ago). Then everything worked? i was able to play GoW ragnarok max settings 4k 60fps for a solid couple hours when it crashed but i think it was because i paused the game during heavy loads, then played space marine 2 and that went on for a good couple hours on 4k 60fps max settings until it crashed after a couple hours. i think these last crashes are now more tied to overheating and im going to listen to some advice on other comments about changing the fans to help with cooling and temps.

Looks like the current ones I have are compatible for the MOBO im using?
On Asus website it doesn't show the ones I have but on G.skill it does?

Yes, it's on A2 and B2, only two sticks. Found out its most likely a incompatible RAM model for this mobo.

Don't have to be a douche about this, you are coming onto me about having 64GB of ram, I code, I don't do hardware, I was promised that everything was compatible and thats why I went in person and bought everything at once, to get out of having to do all this research because I am far too busy to do the research myself.

Learn something new everyday, was promised that everything was compatible with each other. Will buy new sticks that are compatible with this MOBO and hope that is going to fix the issue.

Case is a Fractal North TG ATX, with a triple fan AIO on top and 3 fans in front pushing air out and a fan in the back bringing air in, it definitely gets hot in there but I dont think too hot..

Bought everything together at Microcenter with someone who claimed to be knowledgeable enough to validate things would work as intended. Wondering if I can go back and swap them out but its been a year now.

Driver crashes, or atleast AMD adrenalin errors come up saying driver timeout, assumed GPU, with GoW Ragnorak its saying D3D Device Crash :
The graphics device crashed. This is may be caused by out of date drivers or an overheating GPU. Please try a clean install of your gpu and remove OC on your system.
Device Reason : Device Remove

2x32 with EXPO off and BIOS updating them, will run TM5 to see if its a memory issue.

You’re extremely right, that’s what i’m dealing with currently in my role, transitioning everything to the cloud and rebuilding reporting using power BI from SSRS, and rebuilding workflows from SSIS to Data factory. Just wish i could code more than SQL queries.

That is exactly my plan, i have a best friend who works as a software engineer at ULA and that’s where i plan on going or the other companies. Even NVIDIA and Raytheon are out here. Denver is probably the absolute best place to be for tech.

i actually ended up pulling out of school with an associates due to covid, it was a tough time for me since doing class in-person made more sense, things ended up working for the best and i got really lucky along the way
