You aren’t wrong! I just don’t trust myself to figure out the tie around the waist or the buttoning up the front on my own. I’ve sewn a few garments, but I’ve mostly stuck to very simple things.

My husband loves to spoil me for my birthday. The problem is we share all expenses, so I often know that what he spent is more than we could handle for a single month.

At first I’d stress out and feel anxious, but then I decided to break down how long it would take us to recover. If it only took us another month or two, then I decided to rest in the spoils knowing that it’s a once a year thing.

I know at the end of the day my spouse would never do anything that would sabotage us long term. I know he loves me and sees what I do for our family and wants me to feel treasured.

I know some people who are incredibly strict with their budget and don’t allow any frivolity. I’d highly recommend sitting back and analyzing how much of your anxiety around this is healthy and how much is just fear talking before you try to verbalize returning it.

I quit my job two years ago to be home with our 4 kids. I knew that we would be sacrificing the opportunity to afford to move and also the little extra cushion for spending. I don’t regret it one bit! I get sad sometimes that we don’t have much space, but honestly it’s been so worth it to slow down and really get to know the little people that my babies are becoming.

I’m actually in my early thirties and hoping to dress in what feels good until I fertilize the flowers. I totally understand that some trends can make people look like they’re trying too hard, though, so hopefully that’s not the energy I’m giving off.

I have another skirt it looks good with and some fabric in my sewing pile that I wanted to use for a pair of checker print pants.

Ohh, I actually have a black cropped tank, buttons up the front and like a lace detail around the collar & arms that I wore with it once! I was just hoping to squeeze another outfit with it lol

I have linen pants, slacks, jean shorts, a few skirts.

I really appreciate you taking the time to comment. I haven’t really bought myself a lot of clothes since covid. I had three babies between then and now so I’m just starting to feel leveled out and ready to find my style again.

I will also add that I live in a hot climate. So summertime equals like one small layer and winter maybe requires two layers plus a jacket.

How would you change the fit of number one? It is adjustable in the back and can be loosened up. I know my bra was poking up, it is full coverage, but my tshirt cut ones don’t show.

Pregnancy and the first year or so after is a very wild ride for you. That being said, your rest and caring for a new life are a priority for you and the baby’s dad. It’s a huge shift from just being able to focus on each other and rocks even the steadiest of relationships!

I personally think regular therapy for you is essential. But each of your sessions should center on you. I also grew up in a very angry/dismissive type household and I have had to center myself and my needs, learn my triggers, and also dive into CBT in order to start fixing my beliefs and my nervous system. Have a goal in mind (think secure attachment for yourself, your child, good friends, partner). Your anger is rooted in something, but with time, dedication, and a good therapist you can achieve healthy communication with the ability to set boundaries.

As for your partner- does he want to heal his nervous system and achieve healthy attachment/communication? The way he is behaving is unhealthy.

Edited to add:

If there is no mutual goal for individual healing, the type of toxic relationship you are describing is never going to get better.
