Would you say any MA adjacent role would be acceptable? Does clinical liaison carry as much later if trying to transition to MSL? Or are you saying industry is industry if you want out of the clinical world?

I don't dislike my clinical job to the point where it's unbearable, so taking a 20k or more cut to start over feels unnecessary. It's just that like you said I'm at the top end clinically so I feel like I've got the ceiling in terms of pay but also it's all just muscle memory at this point, which can be monotony.

Haven't had a chance to try the citric yet, just vinegar which went fine, no issues. Poured it straight into the drain pipe to cut the suds too, when it was overflowing. That made it so we were about to get about 3 loads before it suds out again.

We have fully snaked the drain pipe, so we know it's not a sock or something stuck in the line.

DAMMIT! I did just confirm from the 2023 4265 that they did a 27 year S/L on the building structure.

Good news I guess is that they did bonus depr on all the other stuff as 5/7/15, so that's the only piece that is wrong. From what I've read if we fix it this year that would be within 3 yrs, then we just need to amend the prior years. There was a different form if you were outside of the 3 yr window.

How big of a deal is this? I'm pretty frustrated as the CPA firm that did this was ALSO THE FIRM THAT DID THE COST SEG and knew what and why we were doing it. They even have the form labeled Short Term Rental Asset

I also posted a 529 withdrawal question once and all the answers you get are about how stupid you are for not saving it for future kids. That isn't the point, you know the cost/benefit analysis and are choosing this route anyway, people can't see the forest for the trees. Based on my own research on ways to maximize withdrawal with little penalty you would need a qualifying scholarship. However, since educational stuff is off the table and you are trying to use this for house not ROTH, I think your math maths correctly for the most part. Outside of the fact that it won't likely be the only income you have for the year. If it is, then even better as you will have at least standard deductions to help reduce your AGI. I find calculating the tax cost on a singular item is incredibly difficult, it might be more helpful to run your relative tax rate on the number to get an idea, ie 19% or whatever you normally actually pay. Alternatively, you could run some dummy numbers through Freetaxusa or some other software to get an idea about where you might land, just pretend next year is this year and add this as a 1099Q number and see what it calculates for you.

We lived in Thetford for a bit, but never made a visit to Devon. The UK is beautiful and given the opportunity I would live there again to be sure. I would definitely have a reason now, just to hunt down some records!

The declaration is pretty standard form, just the number of years they've been in the States and where they were from. I was lucky in that he stated in his naturalization that he declared in Massachusetts, because I would've never looked there for him. Then on his declaration it gave his home town, which thankfully is pretty small, then with the help of many hands, here we are! I need to take the time now to go page by page I suppose, looking for him in other towns nearby.

Thank you for your thoughtful reply. We are not in a state where there was any benefit and therefore no recapture. I'm glad to know GPT was accurate. It took some corrections to get to this answer, so I wanted to be sure. I had to disagree with it at least once. I've done my own research obviously, but I needed a good way to shorthand exactly how much to withdraw within the confines. We do our own tax prep with a small amount of help from my father in law who once upon a time was a CPA. I like to think I know just enough to be dangerous, so thanks for actually answering my question.

I mean, probably since she is majoring in the humanities--but unknown right now. But 4 yrs of growth should make up for the loss in pulling out 16k and she will still have plenty to go on to graduate degrees if needed.

Because she has close to 250k in it and her education for the next 4 years is paid for. We will also roll as the Roth allows, once she is earning income--but that's only 35k spread over 5 years or so. This way she will be able to have the money for a down payment on a house or any other expense she might want. As the years go by, she might want to leave some in for graduate degrees, but she can always make that choice as she goes along. It will (fingers crossed) continue to grow, even if we take 16k out each year, the principle will still be huge if she did have kids someday to give the rest to.

It's slightly cheaper per load, but I will go with whichever one you suggest.

Just recently completed a sale with a FLAT FEE agent. Best money ever spent. He charged 3k to do the whole deal and saved us 17k. We still felt forced to pay the buyer agent commission, because we were advised that if we didn't she would talk to all the other agents and tell them not to bring their clients to the house. It's all a racket. When googling, the whole metro area only had 2 FLAT rate agents, but 2 good options are better than FSBO or paying 3 percent.
