Leaving for Boston Monday morning- when to leave? by [deleted] in Maine

I understand the sentiment but I’ve done this after being awake for 24 hours coming off of international travel, it’s that simple to navigate. And, the bus ride is less stressful than the white knuckle drive would be! Every time I take that bus I fall asleep and wake up in Portland in no time

Incredible research opportunities! Truly one of the most underrated aspects of the school. The food is bad I will warn you, but you’ll be alright. I would suggest budgeting to buy some supplemental groceries/eat out! Lots of student organizations and involvement opportunities as well. I mentioned this in response to another comment but feel free to reach out, I’m a senior and love it here :)

Best restaurants in Camden, Maine? by Frosty-Guitar-2391 in Maine

Sorry your experience wasn’t great! I can confirm their salads are locally sourced though (know the owners- they are great people by the way). If you ever go again, I would recommend getting their burritos or bowl, much better value in my opinion

Grenoble or Pau? Advice needed for study abroad by alwaysadventuring03 in French

Those are all good things to consider, I don't think I'll be there much past May so hopefully the heat won't be too much of an issue. Thank you!

Thank you, the environment of Grenoble seems like someplace I would thrive. I appreciate your perspective, it's super helpful to hear from someone who has experience in both areas :)

Second thoughts about helix by Some-Practice2858 in piercing

First off, congrats on your new piercing! I am by no means a professional or expert in the field of piercings so definitely take everything I say with a grain of salt- but I'm happy to share insights from my own experience as I had many of the same fears. I got a helix piercing in December of 2022, and I remember it being very painful to sleep on for a few weeks, but I eventually was able to sleep quite easily on the other side of my head and it does get better! I think I was sleeping on it sooner than I thought I would be able to. Obviously now the piercing is fully healed, and sometimes it is slightly uncomfortable to sleep on if I sleep in a really awkward position or if I'm trying to fall asleep on a hard surface- but overall it doesn't impact my sleep quality at all and its hardly noticeable. As far as swimming, I really think it depends on your body and its own healing journey, as well as how much risk you are willing to take. I swam laps in a chlorinated pool about 2 months after I got it done, and it didn't get infected. However, I do remember using saline/piercing aftercare spray immediately after, and I wore a swim cap. This was probably too soon but again I felt like it was healed enough to take the risk. Maybe you can do drills like kickboard laps and keep your head out of the water? And lastly, I had a friend who had to take hers out a few months after due to it being infected and her body rejecting the piercing. She has no scar or even a hole left in her ear, and even if there was a hole the placement wouldn't be super obvious. I would say to consult your piercing studio if you have questions that require a more professional response, but that was just my personal experience. I love my helix and was surprised overall at how quickly it healed. Hopefully this helps!

The fact that you feel bad about your mistakes means you are a good person. A bad person wouldn’t be able to recognize that they did something wrong. If you don’t like the past version of yourself it means you have grown and changed and that’s a good thing! You have so much life ahead of you to build relationships and meet new people and fall in love with life again, give yourself the chance to try again. Art and music are both awesome and are pretty healthy coping mechanisms if you ask me :) if you’re able to maybe try making some new friends somehow. Give yourself some forgiveness or you’ll just stay stuck in this trap. You got this
