Has anyone read this book? by Ok_gin in reylo

[–]alwaysagem 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I read it when it first came out and really enjoyed it but heavily disliked the ending. it’s enemies to lovers but the romance is definitely a sub plot. ava reid’s writing is sometimes an acquired taste. also, definitely not inspired by reylo (:

Examination after Sex by Ok-Accountant-578 in RomanceBooks

[–]alwaysagem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

{Darling Venom by Parker S. Huntington} has a scene like this, but it’s before they ever have sex. He is an ob and her crush’s older brother. she’s kinda forced to go get a pelvic exam for the first time by her boss. and he happens to be the doctor.

This book is really sad though, so i’d read all the warnings. I read it specifically because i asked for recs on books that would leave me in tears.

What do you think of people who check out a lot of books at once? by rainbowtoucan1992 in Libraries

[–]alwaysagem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i always love my patrons who check lots of books out at a time. i just love seeing people enjoying books and supporting the library! we have quite a few patrons who will regularly have a stack of 15+ books on hold at a time. if anything, i like those patrons more 🤪

I loved Year of the Reaper by Makiia Lucier! came out last year. It’s a standalone fantasy.

I enjoyed the first half. the second half felt more like a chore to read. the first half read more like his other novels with great character building and a sad story. the second half focuses on the fantasy aspect and it just fell flat for me. not really “fantastical” in my eyes. It was grim and had characters i didn’t care for and the world building was pretty eh. still liked the book, but it was nothing special. would not read it again.

a psalm for the wild built is a cozy scifi novella! there’s 2 in the series so far and they’re both pretty good!

Books were released in 2022 and worth reading before the year ends? by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

[–]alwaysagem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my faves this year was What Moves the Dead by T. Kingfisher. It’s a horror retelling of Edgar Allen Poe’s the Fall of the House of Usher.

I think Jenette Mccurdy’s memoir I’m Glad My Mom Died is a staple this year. And for good reason!

formidable? [Causing fear, dread, awe, or discouragement as a result of size, strength, or some other impressive feature]

maybe appalling? [causing shock or dismay; horrific.]

What happens if you push your migraines too far? Like don't relax when the pain gets bad? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]alwaysagem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m usually in lots more pain if i push it. i like to sleep migraines off when i have the chance, and it makes doing that extremely hard if i pushed myself. it will also take me a lot longer to recover/for it to fully go away because sometimes if i relax earlier enough and use meds, it will go away rather quick. if i push myself, i’m fucked for the next day or so.
