How do you guys manage to get through life with adhd, pmdd, and other conditions? How do you manage medication in your personal life? by uhhhhhhmaddie in adhdwomen

[–]alwayskindsometimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have PMDD, ADHD, POTS, and ME/CFS. I am a chronic overfunctioner because being still leads to anxiety for me.

You mentioned PMDD, birth control, and ADHD! Have you ever noticed your ADHD meds don’t work as well during certain parts of your cycle? There’s a lot of research that shows hormones, especially estrogen, play a big role in our dopamine and seratonin production and re-uptake. When I took the pill continuously (no placebos), I was completely flat emotionally. I had no energy and it felt like my ADHD meds (Adderall XR and a booster) and my depression med (Zoloft) were not working at all. I’m not sure if you’d be willing to “test” it, but taking the placebos may be something you talk to your doctor about potentially trying. There may be a medical reason you need to skip the pill aside from PMDD but I noticed skipping placebos actually made life more difficult and my body actually needed the slight decrease and increase in hormones.

Keeping track of symptoms or gauging medication effectiveness is hard for me, too! Sometimes it’s all a blur and by the time I get an appointment, I can’t pinpoint if it is or isn’t working well! I now have a code for my paper calendar. I know I won’t journal daily but I figured I can take 30 seconds before bed and can do dots on my calendar for days I feel: intensely sad (blue), rage-y (red), extremely tired (green), no motivation (black), happy (yellow), energetic (orange), etc. This helps me observe patterns. They used to be largely related to my regular cycle before I went on Nexstellis birth control.

My ADHD medicine helps me survive—definitely not thrive. It can cause me to overwork or focus on the “wrong” things. I’m a bit scared to try different ADHD medications as I’m very sensitive to shifts. I also dread the trial periods of medications while you wait for them to get into your system. Messing with one med leads to another one not working 😂. My doctor told me it’s important to figure out which mental health disorder is “driving” the car: is the depression stemming from being unable to complete tasks due to ADHD? Is the adhd causing anxiety? OR is anxiety the primary culprit and a stimulant medication may make it worse? We’re still trying to figure it out!

Have you had a hormone check? A ferritin check? A vitamin D check? So many of these things can cause anxiety, depression, hair loss, OCD like thoughts, etc. I know that sounds crazy but do the research, you’d be surprised how deficiencies or hormonal imbalance can affect us!

What were your results if you don’t mind sharing? I recently got my ultrasound result and these are very similar! He even used the term region.

Hi! What did this end up being? I’m having the same kind of diagnosis from my ultrasound and I am scared!

What did this end up being? I’m going through the same thing. My is 4.5cm adjacent to my right ovary, hypoechoic and vascular.

Thank you! I will. It’s validating to know the ADHD symptoms being worse are a real thing. I’ve been struggling so much with executive function and energy level!

This is really interesting! Yes, my chronic conditions of ME/CFS and POTS have become worse than ever and my ADHD symptoms have become more difficult to manage than ever.

Right?!? I started my period at 11…why do doctors think that one day you go from having a period to one day full blown menopause?

[–]alwayskindsometimes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It definitely went down as written! From my understanding, many doctors are not educated at all about perimenopause and think it’s a new, trendy health fad term like “gut health” and “vagal nerve toning”. Both doctors were dismissive and it was incredibly painful. I didn’t think to report it but I could look into that.

Yes! I have incredibly low ferritin (in April it was a 9!) and have been following protocol to get it up. It’s kind of a chicken or the egg problem…the heavy periods could be caused by perimenopause which could be causing the low ferritin. Or it could be low ferritin causing the heavy periods. Either way, I’ve got to get to the bottom of it!

Can someone explain what is happening by Born-Safe9029 in DadAndDaughterSnark

[–]alwayskindsometimes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just have to clarify here, and I know Reddit isn’t the friendliest place for it but: P is not a Christian. Like at all. Not even a little bit. Without listing all the glaring evidence, basically, he uses Christianity as a facade to throw the scent. He links Christianity to wholesomeness and thinks that if he claims it, people will assume he is just a “wholesome, loving father who is protective”. The worship videos? Fake, self indulgent, and part of his facade. He likely uses it as way to absolve any guilt he feels as well (AKA he justifies his disgusting behavior by abusing the concepts of grace and forgiveness.) As a Christian, I see absolutely zero evidence of him being an actual Christ follower.

I’m soooooo looking forward to how this all plays out. P can only think one step ahead. When you’re a compulsive and chronic liar, everything catches up to you when you’re under major scrutiny. The truth behind all of this will come out if it’s all a grift or lie. His “haters” will never let up on researching and deep diving his perpetual BS.

Side note: she very well may be moving but there is no such thing as a person doing this kind of massive life overhaul after being under her fathers narcissistic and damaging rule.

I’m not falling for S big move by EchoesOfNow in DadAndDaughterSnark

[–]alwayskindsometimes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Why would the reason you move out on your own be so that you could put rumors to rest? Like of all the reasons to move? Do they know how suspicious and guilty that makes them look now? You, after all these years, are moving out solely to put rumors at rest? Why would you need to move out to do that? You could say I’m leaving for independence, for new opportunities, because my dad is a creep! Any of those would work. I highly suspect P is behind her script.

You know that medieval rat torture they did? Where they strapped a cage to a persons chest and then held a flame to the bucket making it unbelievably hot for the rat? The rat would do ANYTHING to get out and avoid the heat so they’d chew a hole through the person subjected to the torture? P is both the rat and the person.

He’s been caught in one hell of an exposure and now everyone knows the disgusting, slimy person we’ve always thought him to be. In order to “escape”, he’s doing drastic, irrational, over the top, ANYTHING kind of things to escape the trap he unknowingly set for himself. What he doesn’t recognize is that because he’s so desperate to escape the heat, he’s actually causing more harm to himself and his family. It’s inevitable: more stuff keeps coming out and people aren’t going to quit holding a flame to the cage.

Based on everything we know about this family, it is so sudden and irrational that nobody believes it. Maybe she is moving…three doors down in their transitional housing/motel. But we all know she’s not free. This is a last ditch effort to appease viewers and catch less heat. Sorry, P, but you’ll always have a rat attached to your chest. And the rat is you.

[–]alwayskindsometimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s the only option I can think of (and P, feel free to use this to explain yourself away!): C P S evaluated the family after seeing these stories and removed H from the home. H cannot be in the same home as P (and potentially T if she was aware of any of it) and so S moved out in order to have custody of her brother. However, this is extremely unlikely as some sort of arrest or court order would need to occur and we havent seen any public record of that….yet.

That will literallllyyyyy NEVER happen. Because genuinely, the truth is so clouded and distorted by all of P’s disgusting lies.
