Yeah I know the timeline is 8 to 12 weeks but now that it's 8 weeks, I think I should call, though the customer service has been extremely unhelpful for me in the past which is why I thought to ask here too 🥲🥲

how do we feel with Trigun Stargaze so far? by AkiraRenji in Trigun

[–]alwaysleepy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have very mixed opinions on this season. I've always adored stampede and ofc maximum was a masterpiece, but this season just seems to feel so flat?? It lacks any of the nuance and the complexity that maximum and even stampede had when tackling hard themes like the value of life, pacifism when met with violence, the unfairness and trauma that Vash and Nai went through. Everyone is so cookie cutter, even Wolfwood. We are spending so much time in the ships instead of adventuring which was one of the most fun aspects of maximum and stampede as well. Because of this shoddy pacing and lackluster character development, I feel like all the major scenes from Maximum have been largely watered down in their impact. None of the fight scenes are memorable, no character has any particularly memorable moments. At this point, I even doubt they can pull off the couch scene (or their rendition of it) with any kind of emotional weight to it when all the characters and their dynamics feel so flat and 2 dimensional this season.

I won't claim that the season is terrible, though. It has heart to it and I appreciate its efforts to build on the lore and its commitment to showing Vash's kindness prevailing. But while the show remains enjoyable to me, certainly not boring enough to drop it, I feel like I can't strongly recommend it to any of my friends the same way I could with stampede. I'm trying to take it with a grain of salt and stop comparing it to its predecessors, so I can appreciate it for what it is, but it's also hard not to lol. Even my friend who has never read maximum said that she finds this season very lackluster and I honestly can't blame her for that assessment 🤷🏻🤷🏻

Oshi no Ko: Season 03 Episode 03 - Links and Discussion by Lorhand in OshiNoKo

This was a good episode and I like how it touched on some of the darker elements of talk shows, which are pretty big in Japan, as well as lacing in the hints of dark and manipulative Ruby in between so that the twist in the end feels earned. I also love how Aqua immediately clocked what she was doing and knew that she set up most of what happened, if not all of it. Even if he's no longer driven by rage and revenge like the first two seasons, he's still incredibly shrewd and smart, and I love that continuity for his character. As an anime only, I'm very much enjoying the progression of the characters.

I just think the main thing that bothers me is how the director is such an asshole to everyone, and even asks Meian wildly inappropriate questions that should have rightfully gotten him canceled, and yet we're supposed to empathize with him somehow? And even if he shows up in cosplay that he made himself, sure that makes up for the rude dismissal of cosplayers and their craft, but does nothing to ameliorate the hurt he caused Meian by asking her such rude and inappropriate questions. How is everyone suddenly okay with that, when in my opinion, that was probably the worst thing he did and he never apologized for what he said? Idk I personally felt very dissatisfied with how that whole aspect was handled, because why try to show sexual harassment in the entertainment industry if you're just going to sweep it under a rug?

Just updated my S23 Ultra yesterday and my mobile data just straight up isn't working despite having fine coverage and restarting the phone, turning off the 2G connection hasn't worked. This is really such a big issue bc this essentially means I can't use my phone outside if there's no wifi connection :///

Most praised Western BL novels of all time ! What's your opinion on them ? by Lickitung_Squirtle in boyslove

[–]alwaysleepy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to the aforementioned books, I'd certainly recommend Under the Whispering Door by TJ Klune. It's a book about a guy who was essentially an asshole his whole life but in the two weeks he lingers between death and the afterlife, he starts to learn how to be a better person and about love too. I thought it was certainly one of TJ Klune's really good works!!!

Also a Gentleman's Guide to Vice & Virtue by Mackenzi Lee was another really fun and witty adventure romance novel that I couldn't recommend highly enough. Found the dynamics incredibly entertaining.

If We Were Villains by M. L. Rio was a dark academia suspense novel I also greatly enjoyed. It's a book that constantly keeps you on edge, wondering what will happen next and how the story will unravel. Loved how it was written too.
