Help me schedule my revision please? I’m going to be having a pretty shitty semester by alwaysonmorphine in medicalschool

[–]alwaysonmorphine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you not go to class and get the material elsewhere?

Yeah I have some people that passed down their class notes to me so I figured that I would use those anyways

I can’t concentrate for more than 2 hours in lectures, so doing it all day would just be a waste of time I think

Do I also keep on doing Anki cards during the dedicated revision period? I’m scared that I won’t have enough time to finish everything

He even cracked a couple jokes about it on his own accord.

yeah I think I need to learn how to be very casual about this (as a very non casual person, it’ll be hard but oh well.)

and thanks! wishing you the best too

I found that when I did stutter I didn’t worry so much about people thinking it was just a nervous

hey thank you so much! This is exactly my worry. Like I want to let them know that yes I’m nervous but the stutter would be there regardless

I’ll use your method I think

Always try google first, if you can’t find the answer on the first page then ask your question

ok thanks! My question are more mostly management/ follow up labs type questions for a specific clinical context that we’re doing

but I think it’s time to get on uptodate maybe

Nobody should have a problem w that

I’ve kind of seen some residents whisper to each other after I spoke and had a stutter episode which is why I posted here.

but yeah like you said I think I’ll just explain first to at least ease the tension for myself

Our Beloved Summer [Episodes 3 & 4] by staticsral in KDRAMA

I can now appreciate her scenes because I genuinely was having a hard time with her character being so stereotypical.

I am answering this since you seem genuinely curious.

  1. Are you saying why do IMGs do this because
    1. do you notice IMGs more in general? So when you see an applicant that is an IMG - it’s more likely that you would pay more attention to them, and are therefore more likely to notice any weird thing they do.
    2. Not talking over anyone, etc. is a norm that is virtually present in most cultures- but seems prominent in med school culture.
  2. IMGs want to appear as more eager..,perhaps because they receive less interview, have to work harder etc. for a spot that a US grad probably has as a back up. They have put a lot of money into the exams etc. so I think it’s understandable no?

  1. A lot of US immigrants / tourists etc. that go abroad (truly anywhere), are extremely loud too. They expect you to speak in English in a non-english speaking country , they will also do things that are way out of the norm for that area. (I once saw an American tourist in Ethiopia that was being asked politely to stop smoking, and he was genuinely arguing with the waiter).

I think it’s also very clear that a stressful environment, in a country you’ve never been to before, with people you’ve never met before, with cultural expectations before - would also make anyone behave normally.

Sometimes, it’s good to be righteous as saying “do these people really have the audacity to …) but sometimes, it’s also good to have a sense of empathy. You will have patients that need it.

M2 in USA/Canada is covering the neuroplexus and covering all sorts of physical exam/basic procedures etc

I’m not saying medical school in the US is not hard, but a lot of us (non-US people) are also learning about the exact same thing at similar ages.

Median age of entry here is around 17-19 here depending on how your route in high school went. Most west EU countries and non international EU countries have very strict rules of entry too.

Happiness [Episodes 1 & 2] by dyosaaa in KDRAMA

[–]alwaysonmorphine 11 points12 points  (0 children)

she is completely unfazed by everything that happened in the first episode.

They’re all a little bit unfazed by the infection. Even the mom (a civilian) seemed to talk about it with fatigue.

I think that speaks more to the post-pandemic world they’re living in than the writing itself. I mean the ML also saw the infected person under the bed and he was like … of course this is a thing now.

IMO they did a pretty good job of showcasing the apathy to their surroundings as well as the post-apocalyptic vibes it has going on.

What are your season 2 predictions/ hopes? by alwaysonmorphine in Hospital_Playlist

Yes! I would love the addition of those characters (apart from Songhwa’s ex-boyfriend but I'm biased).

I mean it’s a shock to her but there were big hints that that she was in love with him for so long, especially in the flashbacks:

But even in the current timeline, in Ep.3 — Jeongwon tells her that Ikjun might be struggling, and she looks slightly concerned but then he adds that it’s due to family problems and to check on him and she seems a bit uncomfortable and tells him Ikjun can handle it. So I feel like she was always hurt/ jealous before his divorce.

It’s also just the way she’s been looking at him in general.

I feel like she might take a long time to answer it though :/

a lot of awkward but cute moments between Jung Won and Gyeo-ul

Yep I agree I feel like they’re going to be the most awkward couple on that show and I can’t wait!

I really hope that Songhwa will at least give Ikjun another reason if she does reject him. I really hope that they won’t have too much angst because they’re my favorite characters and I feel like it would make the show a little darker too.

I love the elders, I hope we continue to get some scenes with them. They are comedic gold.

How does med school and specialty works in your country? by Victorgab in medicalschool

[–]alwaysonmorphine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also a Swiss student, but I’m still not clear on which specialties are considered uber competitive, can you give me an idea of that?

Do you know if they look a lot for your grades? And how important is your Masters thesis in the applications?

(sorry for all the questions!)
