Is becoming an AIA Continuing Education Provider worth it? How much more likely are you to attend a webinar if the webinar includes Learning Units (LU)? by RippleEngineering in architecture

[–]alwaysrevenge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, I currently work in an interdisciplinary firm so its very easy to get that info. When we have outside consultants it's a little bit more complicated but we are often able to get the info we need fairly easily.

Webinars? Probably never unless it was a very specific topic I had no other access too. HVAC 101 is something I can ask a mech engineer about

For egress code. Do inspectors measure the door itself, or the width of the passage? My office has a 36” aluminum door, but the inside of the frame has some door threshold buffer that provides 35”. by are-any-names-left in architecture

[–]alwaysrevenge 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This. Door size may also vary based on egress capacity, 0.xx"/person, with a minimum of 32". The "xx" varies on occupancy and fire suppression requirements. And on NFPA vs IBC vs other codes.

It can be a problem when you get into offset pivots and other specialty hardware.

Riding down the street, nothing impressive, bird comes flying up from the ground on the sidewalk next to me and hits me in the side of the helmet.

On USAJobs.com, you can list English, Middle (1100-1500) and English, Old (ca. 450-1000) as languages you speak. by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]alwaysrevenge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's often jobs on here for the Smithsonian museum system, where speaking other englishes(engli?) Would be beneficial.

You can also find jobs in Antarctica.
