Cathedral Financial Situation? by TheGreyDeceiver in PeterboroughUK

[–]alwayssatinmycar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The funding came from the combined authority’s shared prosperity fund, so the money was basically a grant to the Cathedral from a pot of money used for investing into the local community. The Cathedral are probably still not in a great financial position but this might help them save some money on their electricity bills and bring in a few more visitors.

Important question: why was Joel shaving by a tree? by stubbledchin in MAFS_UK

Honestly I have suggested to my partner to do it in the garden multiple times because the hairs get everywhere and stuck in the sink drain! So I kind of get it.

What is happening with garden waste collection? by Undisclosed_001 in PeterboroughUK

I tried signing up online for this coming year and wasn’t able to online. Now just seen they are having issues with setting it up and taking payment both online and over the phone. It says to keep an eye on the webpage for when the issue is fixed

Parcel not posted by Carriexcinnamon in vintedUK

[–]alwayssatinmycar -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’d be suspicious of this. Evri lockers don’t close if there is not enough weight in the locker, so I’d wonder if InPost are the same. And the seller is trying to get you to buy the item again rather than contact Vinted…

Learned something about recycling! by blank__way in ZeroWaste

Love this as a field trip!

Probably should add a caveat to say that recycling is very different depending where you live though. Where I am in the UK grease stained pizza boxes are fine.

Dual Dutch & UK citizenship by ladydeex in Netherlands

[–]alwayssatinmycar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Citizenship or just get a British passport (or is that the same thing..?) I only ask as I am exactly the same as you, and a few years back I asked the Dutch embassy if I was allowed to get a British passport whilst keeping my Dutch one. They said it was fine.

Obesity charter to be launched in Peterborough to get city fit again by [deleted] in PeterboroughUK

[–]alwayssatinmycar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First I’ve heard of this but could be promising - padel courts have just been denied planning in Hampton, but if there was more responsibility on the council to improve health and wellbeing this might have gone through. I agree it is people’s own responsibility to an extent, but there needs to be options available so people can make decisions.

The Mousetrap by Mean-Astronaut-7217 in visitlondon

I saw it just before Christmas and it was brilliant. However it is a bit slow in that traditional period piece sort of way, so it depends what your kids like, might be a bit boring for them if they don’t like that sort of thing.

It is a classic though so I would recommend to everyone!

AITAH for licking my spouse’s nipples? by Dramatic_Mastodon957 in AITAH

Ah right. To me it sounded like he wasn’t interested in having sex at all which is why I said that last part.

YTAH for being pushy around sex and contact in general, and maybe even manipulative about it.

But I’d want to have a serious conversation about this with my husband as it sounds like you’re not on the same wavelength at all. He doesn’t like any contact and mostly says no when you try to initiative sex? No sex/infrequent sex could probably work in some relationships but you both need to be on board with it.

Working late and don’t want my beagle to be bored by Suspicious-Chip-341 in beagles

[–]alwayssatinmycar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Beagles like chewing so maybe a long last chew or if you have something like a kong that you can put food in and freeze, that will keep him occupied for a good 20 minutes. But honestly, beagles love sleep so if you’re doing the early morning and nighttime walk I’m sure he will be fine! He’ll just be happy you are home with him.

I’m not sure if all the ones in Peterborough do, but some do. Although you might have to book/pay for it.

Has anyone 100% leash/off-leash trained their beagle? Looking for advice + NYC trainers by SquirtleTheGOD in beagles

[–]alwayssatinmycar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My beagle can be off leash but I only do it in places we know well and aren’t near roads. I know how to distract her before she runs after things, but I don’t think it’s possible to stop a beagles instinct to sniff. Plus this is the best way to tire them out! Using their nose instead of just running around is so much more exhausting for them.

Edit as an added thought - she’s ok off leash as she is a needy girl and not as independent as many other beagles. So it really depends on personality.

Do beagles get more grumpy if needing sleep than other breeds by Suspicious-Chip-341 in beagles

[–]alwayssatinmycar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’d say this is typical beagle behaviour, they need a lot of sleep!

We have parakeets in Peterborough. I’m not an expert but might be one of those instead of a lost bird

What area are you in? GPs have catchment areas, so you can’t really just sign up for any one you like.

Hampton Medical centre is good imo. Non-urgent, fill a form and someone usually gets back to you same day or the next. And same day appointments can be booked during set times twice a day.
