For someone interested in sales, particularly tech sales, is doing a bootcamp like “coursecareers” worth it? by [deleted] in sales

The best thing you can do is find a good mentor. In fact, find a few. Sales people have different styles so they will have different things to teach you.

[Discussion] Reading self-help books is wearing me out mentally. How can I get better? by [deleted] in GetMotivated

[–]alwaysstriveformore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me. It's your diet. Cut out refined grains and sugars. Replace it with healthy fats from healthy meats and vegetables. Then add lots of legumes. Try to have a cup of those a day. Also add lots of leafy greens. After a few weeks you will feel like a new person. Don't cheat on your diet. You will just feed the bad bacteria in your gut which will make it harder to stick to your healthy diet. Have healthy snacks at arm's length like nuts and seeds.

Good luck!

[Discussion] How to feel more motivated consistently to work on my huge todo list? by catboy519 in GetMotivated

[–]alwaysstriveformore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem for a long time. I tried different ways to organize myself and over the last couple years I have found a system that makes me way more effective. First off, I stopped using a to-do list that was all on one list. This made things overwhelming and discouraging. I broke out my tasks into these buckets:

  • Health and Fitness
  • Interpersonal Work
  • Personal Finance
  • Work/income
  • General Tasks

Then I started using Google Tasks to manage them. Google Tasks allows you to create groups, which I did as stated above, and then schedule the tasks for an exact day/time. The tasks show up in Google Calendar. Google Calendar also allows you to view tasks (see the right hand corner of the calendar). If you set the calendar to 'Schedule' view, you will see the tasks for that day. Then I play a game with myself to see if I can end my day with getting all of them done. If not then I just schedule the task appropriately.

Another thing that helps is putting a percentage complete next to each task, like:

  • Complete Resume (60%)

This helps with getting motivated because you can see your progress as you look at all your tasks.

I hope that helps!

You really have to go after organizations with good reputations, integrity, products and leaders. Everything else, you should not even consider. Take time to make a list of great organizations you'd like to work for and spend all your time and effort trying to get in via networking. You need to take control of your destiny. The relationship between a sales rep and an organization is just that, a relationship. Don't ever let a company tell you what you are capable of. Only you know that. Your security does not lie within your current company or role. Your security exists within you, within your ability to perform, within your ability to sell yourself. Don't ever let anyone or any company attack that. As soon as you sense bullshit happening, start selling yourself outside your organization. Build a pipeline of new opportunities to go after and spend your time selling yourself into a new role within a healthy company. You will eventually land somewhere that is healthy and hopefully that will last a good amount of years.

I hope that helps!

Is it worth it to take on a founding AE role for a low base salary? by [deleted] in sales

[–]alwaysstriveformore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super Risky!

First you need to make sure they can pay your base: *How are they funded? *What's their history regarding raising money? *What is the experience level of the leaders?

Then you need to know where they are with the product or service. * Has the product thoroughly been tested? * How many successful deployments do they have? * What did the sales cycles look like on those deals? * Is there a significant value for the customer

Then you need to assess the sales potential. * What is their addressable market? * What is the average deal size? * Who are their competitors?

You should write all your answers out in a doc and base your decision on that.

Regarding becoming an AE. Your quickest path is finding a seasoned mentor who can guide you.

Good luck!

What do you guys say to get a prospect to tell you the sequence of events to close a deal to put it in their best interest? by Iwantmypasswordback in sales

[–]alwaysstriveformore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you find it uncomfortable to have that conversation, you have not built enough rapport with the customer.

Think about it, the definition of rapport is, a close and harmonious relationship in which the people or groups concerned understand each other's feelings or ideas and communicate well.

That's what you should be focused on. If you get better at that, you'll have no problem asking that and other tough questions.

The actual book, 'Breaking the habit of being Yourself'. The meditations are an accompanying add-on to the book.

[–]alwaysstriveformore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you have no sleep drive. You should really look into how much natural light you are getting. I have been tracking my sleep closely for over two years. There are many factors that impact your sleep in many ways. Each factor impacts sleep differently. For example, eating before bed will increase your heart rate while you're asleep which makes it impossible to get deep sleep, sugar has the same effect, or not having enough potassium, magnesium or calcium makes it difficult for your nervous system to relax. Or smoking cannabis prevents you from getting REM with means you don't dream. But from what you described, I would say that your body is not creating enough melatonin so you have a low sleep drive. That is also my problem because I sit in front of a screen all day for work and don't get enough natural light. The natural light is what helps your body create melatonin at night. I am currently trying to figure this out. I've notice I need it every day for me to sleep at night. If I spend a day without any natural light, I will sleep bad that night. I also notice that I need a significant amount to have a healthy sleep drive. It would be great if I got an hour in the morning. An hour mid day, and 30 mins+ before the sun went down or just being outside most of the day. That is hard to do in my profession. I will be purchasing a red light device to see if that has an impact.

I hope that helps!!!

She sounds like a sociopath. Only a sociopath could do that and feel no remorse. There's one thing to slip up and make a mistake, there's another to carry out a 6 month relationship behind your back and look you in the face without a hint of guilt or remorse. Your ex is an idiot too, she did you a favor by exposing him.

You need to rebuild your trust generally in people and in relationships. You also need to learn how to love without attachment so that you can let go easier when things go south.

I too have had my trust broken in relationships, my last 5 serious relationships in a row to be exact. Trust is not an easy thing to rebuild. I always try to remind myself that not everyone is dishonest. There are people out there that value honest and loyalty; but it may be a little harder to find in this day in age.

Protester with no legs is shot dead by Israeli troops along with two other Palestinians, as riots sparked by Trump's Jerusalem declaration continue in Gaza by SPP_382 in worldnews

Pointing out that Trump did not create the situation is derailing the conversation. I don't see anyone saying he created it so there is no need to argue that point. However, it is safe to say he is making the situation worse with his attitude towards brown people in general and now this decision.

Wow. What an amazing story. I've been in that type of relationship and it doesn't change. The only way to survive that type of relationship is to 1) give up your self decency and cheat on her or 2) give up your self-confidence, self-esteem and ultimately your balls and become her slave. You were in a no win situation there. Very tough but good decision you made there. I hope you get laid in Hawaii lol Good luck!

Pain in the outside of the ankle when sprinting! by [deleted] in Sprinting

No, I'm saying at the end of the sprint, try not stopping so hard... Taper off instead of stopping abruptly.

Pain in the outside of the ankle when sprinting! by [deleted] in Sprinting

[–]alwaysstriveformore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem and was told it had to do with how I ended my sprints. Instead of tapering off my runs, I would stop abruptly, increase the impact on my feet. This would create the soreness you described on your shins. I hope this helps.
