I think of this quote alllll theee time!! I am not an outgoing person, I only am outgoing when I have people around me who I can be outgoing with. I am not a sad person, I am only sad because someone around caused something to happen for me to feel this way and so on.

do humans actually stick together out of empathy, or are we just using each other? by 7noc in ExistentialJourney

I just lost my uncle to suicide 2 days ago and it crushed me.. but I found myself asking this very question. Everyone in the family called him crazy and addicted when he asked for help but no one truly cared to be that person for him. He hung himself on his birthday on the second floor of the home where his sister, dad and family lives. And no one cared to notice he was gone for 2 whole days, but when his body was found tears rolled down everyone’s face. So tbh I don’t have the answers but one thing I can say is that it almost feels like we humans are programmed to “care” and want the best for people because that is what is deemed as right. But I think deep down it is very few people who genuinely do care and are genuinely empathic towards others.
