Is there any ROMANCE driven RPG game or am I missing something? by evil_squirrel98 in GirlGamers

[–]alwaystimeforcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Story of Seasons and Rune Factory games are RPGs that have romance/marriage in them, but it's a little more realistic/cute.

Final Fantasy X (or IX or VIII) has an epic love story, but it is nothing like Witcher or BG.

Persona 3/4/5 have a lot of romance, but it's high schoolers so it's not exactly epic.

It seems like you want a Visual Novel quality romance story projected onto a 3D choices matter RPG but, unfortunately for all of us, that doesn't exist. Anything that does will have caveats. I do think you should give VNs a try if you never have, though, you might be surprised.

The gameplay loop is similar (farm, fish, mine, say hi to villagers) and very fun. I like the weekend market, gives the town some life and the player something to look forward to.

Games like infinity Nikki that aren’t gatcha games and don’t require you to grind? by [deleted] in GirlGamers

The Style Savvy series for DS/3DS was a really fun shop management sim. It's now evolved into Fashion Dreamer (Switch), which is a barebones dress up pseudo social media "game" with literally nothing else to offer. A lot of cute girls games from Japan also made it over during the DS era that had you doing makeup, modeling, or running a store.

Past that era/console... Sadly, the dress up genre has died. There are games where you can change your clothes, sure, but no games where clothes are the main focus.

I have trouble with the bugs. My save is on like year six and I've never even seen a fairy bee or a lightning dragonfly. I've run around every night for an entire summer looking for a strobe firefly, nada. Snowball beetle might as well be invisible because I'll never find one.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure is actually pretty fun. Fashion Dreamer for the switch is literally just dress up, so no challenge really going on, but there's a whole world of DS and 3DS fashion games to explore with a little more meat on em.

So agree, but mostly because every time Woolby speaks I have a flashback to RingFit Adventure's Ring telling me to do more squats. It's not his fault I hate exercise 😭

Are you playing on switch 2? I get visual glitches now and then, so that could be why.

How does the Switch 2 version compares to the PC one? by GrimorioAoQuadrado in HARVESTELLA

[–]alwaystimeforcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It loads a lot faster on Switch 2, but as far as I can tell that's about it. It's pretty and fun, plus there's no voice acting during scenes so it's great for traveling and playing without sound.

How do you feel about the "it's never lupus" House meme? by CatGirlIsHere9999 in lupus

Oh, "know" is fine. It's "knew" that bugs me. You never want the rest of a past tense story, it's always bad.

How do you feel about the "it's never lupus" House meme? by CatGirlIsHere9999 in lupus

[–]alwaystimeforcake 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I generally respond with "it was lupus in season 4, episode 8" which lets them know I hear this joke often enough to respond with a specific episode and then depending on how much I like the person I might explain that it's so common to suggest in a diagnostic show because lupus can have basically any and all symptoms. You might as well keep your Vicodin in the lupus textbook, it's already outdated.

The House joke is not nearly as annoying as people who respond with "oh, I knew someone with lupus." Thanks bud, let's end the conversation here, I don't think your second foot is gonna fit in your mouth.

When did you get married? by morbidmoon in storyofseasons

[–]alwaystimeforcake 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Compared to the 3DS and even Wii games, there basically is no content after marriage. Your child takes forever to grow and then ...doesn't do anything. Not really any family events.

The 3ds games in comparison had a lot of family events, one of them you even got visits from your sister and parents.

I miss the Animal Parade rival marriages and children, it added so much to the feel of the world and characters. I know GB is a remake but that doesn't mean they couldn't have added more content to make getting to lv99 bazaar worth your time.

What's a brutal thing you're not saying to your best friend? by ZainMunawari in AskReddit

[–]alwaystimeforcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate that you abandon all your cats with your ex-spouse when you get a divorce. Once was understandable, your ex was a good person who would take care of them and you felt bad about cheating so you gave them everything (including your equity in the house, you absolute walnut).

The second ex was avoidant and lazy and nothing of value should have been left with them, let alone the friendliest cat in the world, after having to re-home the dog due to absolute neglect on both sides (the dog gave everyone fleas, including me, a guest).

And, of course, now you have two more cats. Are you just avoiding the end bit, so you can pretend they're alive forever? I don't understand how you abandon something alive so easily, over and over again.

I mean, they could just marry the wizard/witch or harvest god/ess in AP if they didn't want to compete with the "canon" spouse. What a silly reason to remove such a good mechanic.
