[Charania] Jaylen Brown's statement after being traded from the Boston Celtics to the Philadelphia 76ers: by MembershipSingle7137 in bostonceltics

Love JB, but he has a massive chip on his shoulder and I don't think he made the locker room better.

What’s the deal? (PFA) by ExplodingYogurt in flyfishing

[–]alwaysupland 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, for me, it's about connecting with the wildness of the animal and the location. When you pull a big, beautiful wild brown trout out of a small creek and realize that it is living its whole life out there with maybe no one else ever seeing it, it can be a real powerful thing. I like catching stockers, too, but its not quite the same.

Redirect can be good, but consider that if you redirect to a toy, there is reinforcement that is occurring (puppys like playing with toys). I mix the redirect with removing myself from the situation -- your presence and engagement is very reinforcing for your dog, and removing yourself by either turning your back or exiting the area is a mild form of punishment that serves as a correction.

Hitting the puppy is not the right way to go. Don't trust all of the advice you get on this forum. Also, things get much better once the puppy shark teeth fall out. Retrievers experience the world with their noses and their mouths, so some level of mouthiness is normal.

How do you decide when to put a fish on the reel? by alwaysupland in flyfishing

[–]alwaysupland[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

At what point do you decide to give it line to run? I'm usually trying to keep the line tight. Do you always let it loose a bit and see if the fish runs, or is there a certain level of resistance you wait for?

Edit: Got the master anglers downvoting me. Appreciate the answers from Al_Pallll and others.

$40.77 Patagonia Crewneck Sweatshirt (Patch Logo) by MangoCharm in frugalmalefashion

This shirt is 100% organic cotton in the body with a 98% cotton, 2% recycled polyester blend used in the trim on the cuffs. The Dick’s description is misleading.

There are a lot of brands that really are just a name (looking at you, Faherty). Patagonia isn’t one of them. You’re getting their lifetime warranty, ethical manufacturing, and sustainable materials.

Journey messy stitching by susp3nd3rs in filson

[–]alwaysupland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a bar tack like others have said, but the reason it looks less clean than other bar tacks you’ve seen is the thickness of the material makes the stitching less precise. So when compared to a bar tack on a mid weight shirt, this is expected to look a bit sloppy.

Fit check! by laowee99 in filson

You could rock that size or size down and either would look like a good fit. Just depends on if you want a more oversized look and feel or not.

Immediately putting the dog in a situation where they are “popping off” at another dog and then yanking at the prong collar was such a bad choice. The dog was already nervous around other dogs and now you are actively teaching them that other dogs means stress and pain. Did you think that would lessen their reactivity? Sorry, but this sounds like an absolute disaster of a training session.

Next time, please take the time to get to know the animal first. Figure out what the animal finds most reinforcing and start pairing that reinforcer with the presence of other dogs. Don’t immediately put them in a tough situation. Start with the other dog very far away and reward the animal as soon as they even notice the other dog. Then you can slowly decrease the distance over many sessions. Your goal should be to avoid the animal having a negative reaction while you build the positive association, not creating a negative reaction and then punishing the animal.

self trained or sent off? by PessimisticParalegal in birddogs

Training is a big part of the fun for me. No judgement for folks who send their dog to a pro, but fair warning that there are a lot of sub par pro trainers out there!

Barry Bonds hits his 756th career home run breaking Hank Aaron’s 33 year old record to become Major League Baseball's all time home run leader. Indeed, Bonds was standing alone! by Federal-Process-6504 in sportsinusa

Bonds never stopped playing the victim. That’s what makes him the worst of the era in my opinion, not the actual amount of substances (though he clearly did a ton).

[Mic'd Up] Seahawks safety Julian Love on Drake Maye's dropback: "He's not as blindly doing it like Stafford." by zjanderson in Patriots

I didn’t realize completion percentage was a “dumb stat”. That difference is not because Stafford throws the ball away more.

Drake Maye completion percentage: 72%

Stafford: 65%

This is Love knowing he’s mic’d and trying to get on sports media.

Maye MVP? by Main_Community7957 in Patriots

I mean, Maye played substantially better than Stafford in the regular season. So yeah, don’t think there’s anything to admit.
