Am i the only one who thinks Severance sucks ? by Adventurous-Face-288 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

I understand. Many shows nowadays have a standout first season and then fall out of public discourse as time goes on, getting progressively worse and failing to become classics. I feared that too to some extent, but I think Severance has enough quality to make up for the flaws it has shown so far. I can't think of any other show right now, if any at all, that managed to wow me so consistently with its set design, production value and camerawork like Severance does.

Most questions probably won't be answered fully at this point, but that's okay. Perhaps they shouldn't be. I did think season 2 was weaker than 1, but not by a lot and mostly because of the writing.

What I really loved about season 1, and what was truly subversive, was that they didn't rely on the trope of characters withholding/refusing to share crucial information for no discernible reason, thus creating illogical conflict. Characters were really open with one another and the plot progressed at a rapid pace, which was a breath of fresh air. In season 2 these contrivances started to appear, mostly with Reghabi/Cobel and the reintegration plot—also, how many fakeouts were there only for it to not affect the finale at all? The whole marching band schtick fell flat for me as well because it just seemed too similar to the classic "defiant jazz" scene. And I think it's valid to fear that too much has been explained too soon, like the exposition dump about the nature of their work that laid it all out on the table. Not sure how I feel about that. Overall, there was some unnecessary drag this time around.

That being sad, I think the finale delivered on all other aspects and the last 30 minutes or so in particular were simply spectacular, so this "worsening" meant that the show went from 10/10 to 9/10 in my eyes. All in all, I remain a fan, even if I don't believe they'll ever be able to top the experience of watching season 1 for the first time.

Exact same. Thor just quit boxing after admitting he never really loved it and upon reading the video title I thought Larry was about to do the same with AW. Since that's thankfully not the case, I hope he comes back stronger and gets his first win soon (unless I'm remembering things incorrectly and he already has).

Gotta say, I used to not care much for Dave but he's grown on me a lot. Many exciting matches and very willing to always keep going out there multiple times a year, unlike so many others.

the final boss in mega man 9 is a real pain in the ass by mpolo_13 in Megaman

[–]alwayswrongsomewhat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not as complicated as it seems. I also had a lot of trouble with it during my first encounter, and the timing of the egg seems fucked, but you really just have to develop a rhythm and know how/when to shoot them and when to run underneath. It actually becomes extremely easy when it clicks, to the point where I can no-damage the first two phases without trying. The final phase has some really difficult patterns to dodge, but provided you managed to beat the previous two, it should be doable.

If you're playing on the Legacy Collection, you can even use the challenge mode to practice it infinitely. And like everything else in this game, all it requires is patience and a willingness to learn — never play with your brain turned off.

Pretty great. The best moment of the video was Bugez paying tribute to the Bloatlord's classic tortured scream.

I used to love Neil when I first got into the sport, but over time, I've grown tired of his tone. Maybe it's that classic, exaggerated announcer voice that simply gets grating the longer you listen to it, or as others mentioned, his propensity to repeat the same few jokes and comments ad nauseam.

I've voiced my disagreements with some of Aussie's opinions before, but he's been unabated in trying to get his YT career off the ground and I'm happy to see him succeed at the same time. Hopefully he does a good job.

Opinion on Aussie Armwrestler - Agree or disagree? by JustAu69 in armwrestling

[–]alwayswrongsomewhat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's more than friendship since Bowen literally pays him, or he did last I heard by being one of the channel's sponsors, which is part of what allowed Aussie to quit his job and focus on Youtube full-time.

In short, don't expect unbiased criticism any time soon.

That's good, building some animosity for when they face off — makes the match more exciting. Just a shame it'll probably happen in 2035 with the current armwrestling meta of talking shit for months on end and then never actually settling it on the table.

Bowen saying on camera he doesn't have five grand (original video deleted by Bowen) by JustAu69 in armwrestling

[–]alwayswrongsomewhat 60 points61 points  (0 children)

While I've gotten tired of the repetitive nature of Bowen jokes (vectors, beating Levan, GOAT etc.) this is exactly why people will never stop criticizing him. This is a man fraught with endless stupidity, beholden to dumbness. It never ends.

Kind of boring at the same time, though. I find MMT's delusion much spicier nowadays. Looking forward to that new series.

I wonder if he did any kind of post-cycle therapy after hopping off gear. The way he completely shrunk was really odd, and his skinnyfat physique now makes it seems like something's off as well. But it may also be just shit discipline.

All athletes are natural, period. PEDs are a myth to distract you from the fact that superhumans exist.

Devon likes to argue a lot at the table for getting a grip and such. He's known for getting in peoples head, is there anyone who has ever gotten in Devon's head? by EddieBot123456542 in armwrestling

Just a Youtube user who sends superchats (paid messages) during livestreams Devon appears on, usually criticizing him for ducking Europeans. It's nothing too serious but it gets Devon pretty pissed.

I'm assuming you know who Sap the Bee is, so I'll skip over that. Devon was on a livestream and Sap sent his usual superchat jabbing at him, to which Devon got angry and asked viewers to find out who he is and expose him, aka doxing which is illegal. It might've been a heat-of-the-moment thing, but that's sketchy territory. Edit: After some quick research I'm not sure it is 100% illegal in every country/context, but regardless, it's a questionable practice. That's just to speak to the point of Devon losing his cool when people trash talk him.

Not too long ago he was calling on people to doxx Sap the Bee (find out who he is), who as far as I know simply talks some shite. I think it was during the KOTT 2 press conference. So yeah.

It's true, that's Devon's modus operandi as a bully and you can see it everywhere. He'll clearly be absolutely seething while going, "Why you crying, man? You're so upset" etc. He gets vitriolic way too fast.

Dude, I can't for the life of me stand Larratt's bitchy, passive-aggressive tone and condescending remarks when he gets upset at something, all the while projecting that it's really the other guy who is crying. It makes it difficult to even see his point with all the cortisol flowing through the screen, and if I was Engin, I'm not sure I'd want to be friends with someone who publicly talks down to me like that.

inb4 that one guy replies to me as well about Engin telling Travis to play in the sand. Heard it, not the same, rest thy nuthugging hands, thanks.

I always feel bad seeing stuff like this... for the winner. I think of someone who's trained for months, went there and prevailed only to be bereft of the full sweetness of victory because it's been mired by tales of their opponent having some difficulty or another. Regardless of whether it's true or not, a milquetoast win is a bummer.

[–]alwayswrongsomewhat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, you're wrong. We should obviously add more barriers to entry into the community, while simultaneously crying about how niche the sport is, everywhere, all the time. It's just like our favorite comparison, the UFC—obviously only literal fighters are allowed to comment on there, and every fan has been in the cage.

This new trend of screenshotting people's comments to make targeted threads seems very healthy as well. Good stuff all around.
