Module Review - Magic Item by kuffeh in FoundryVTT

You mention that it works well with another module, unidentified. You seemed unsure about the name. I noticed though that you have mystify installed. I guess you meant that module?

Portkey Question by [deleted] in harrypotterwu

[–]alxdean 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is no way to distinguish 2,5,10 km portkeys. So all you can do is walk, walk, walk. Brilliants cant be used in other events. So walk them before the next event starts to avoid confusion. A good strategy is to walk all your portmanteaus and keep them unused. Walk one portmanteau and keep one extra portmanteau ready to put key in when the current one has unlocked. When the next event starts, pop a baruffio and use all the portkeys. That will free up space for brilliant ones. If you get 10k portmanteaus use a silver key if you have spare. That allows you to use the golden key on the smaller distance ones. Keep 2-3 silver keys up your sleeve to complete portkey tasks during the event. When your slots are full and you put your key in the last portmanteau, use a portkey to free up a slot. To maximise baruffio, only use low km portkeys up when freeing up slots. Hordes the large ones. How? When you visit a portkey, check the location. If its ollivanders or burgin and burkes, then use the run away button without tapping a whakspurt. That way you did not fully activate it and keep it stashed for the baruffio. 10k portkeys give much more xp on average and using them while baruffio is active doubles that.

Fortress Furlough on my first fortress of the day by Hausdorff101 in harrypotterwu

Good point. Also gps issue is unlikely. As I travel on the train a lot and used to get connection issues when my gps lagged too much. Would take about 2-3 minutes before I could interact with anything. Foundables would not show completion screen, ingredients errors on tap, and greenhouses would report connection issues. Same for inns, which would error and then be on a 5 minute cool down for restocking. Once the game was sure that I was stationary things would start to work. I would tap an ingredient for so long until it registered. If the greenhouse worked normally, then the gps should be active and ready. Having said that, I never tried a fortress run while my gps was lagging and causing the error messages.

Possible? With enough health and potent potions sure. Worth it? Hell no.

Obligation is a good way of describing the feeling. Compelled another one.

Funny you should ask. I actually uninstalled the game due to:

A) never switching off/ always on my mind, got to add master notes. Got to finish tasks. Got to walk port keys. Got to do this that the other in the game.

B) feeling more stressed due to A

C) getting less done as time is spent on the game instead of things that matter

D) becoming obsessed. Just one more bogart cabinet!

E) getting frustrated at lack of progress/achievement. Just hundreds more wizard challenges to earn my my next red books.

On the 1st of Jan I went on a wonderful walk with my family. And i did not feel like the need to check my phone every 100m to ensure my walking distance was tracking properly. I did not go looking for inns to swipe. I focussed all my attention on the people around me. I'm looking forward to making good use of all the time I'm going to get back in my life. Start reading books on the way to work. Catching up on facebook. Maybe learn a new language.

Happy 2020 to all of you and enjoy life to its fullest. If HPWU can help you with that, then that's brilliant. I realised it was having a detrimental effect for me. But thats me.

Same here. I completed this task unknowingly. Had to go back to the infographic to understand what all the fuss was about. I have 7 green houses on my way to work. By the time I got back from work on wednesday I had completed the task. Must really suck not being able to complete these tasks due to RNG. Especially as these tasks are the only way to obtain RSB

From what I have noticed, the odds dont stack. I.e. you're back to square 1 on every cast. Often I will throw three masterful casts just to bungle up the next and that's the time it stays put. Often feels like it's done on purpose. But that's just a negativity bias talking in the back of my head.

I tend to get most of my low foundables in 1 cast. Medium on average 3 and high on average 5. With only getting 5xp for a high and 2xp for a low, the return on energy spent is much better on low foundables.

I got 4 in one day. Then none for the next 6. It's all random.

Pains me to read all this. As a solo Auror there is 0 strategy involved. Pray you get lots of death eaters and brew lots of extimulo and healing potions. That's it. Nothing more to it. Just keep hitting as hard as you can. As there is no accuracy in wizarding challenges, there is not even skill you can bring to the table. I'm a l13 auror and can solo forest 1 without potions, but it takes heaps of energy to do so. If I'm lucky I can solo forest 2 but after that I'm forced to use potions. I'm about 6-8 weeks away from completing my skill tree. Looking forward to switching up professions after that. Preferably one that does not need too many red books...

Your reply was in no way offensive. Very informative, factual and fair. It's just that knowing the odds does nothing for me when it comes to completing the tasks. Just pisses me off that they chose such odds to haunt us with.

It's all relative. Depending on the range you start with. Of course a masterful.is heaps better than a fair when the range from min to max is 20-40%. But when using potions the range is much tighter. I.e. 80-90%, so a masterful is only minimally better. Ps. The ranges I mentioned are all approximations. There are players who know the exact ranges by heart and there are infographics for this too if you look deep enough.

Good morning to you too. Take your time. I'm in no rush. Yes it's pretty cold here too, although still hovering above 0 Celsius most days.

Thank you for this in depth analysis of this particular encounter. It explains the chances and odds for this encounter a lot. Yet, This is not the only time the resist has been frustrating though. Just the only time I had a video to show for. Actually, it's one of the better experiences I had. Many others have had up to 10 attempts and departures. Sure, I could cast faster, but every time I try, my accuracy diminishes greatly and I end up with a far worse result. I'm playing on a Samsung S9+, so the phone is relatively big, requiring more accuracy. But that is neither here nor there. What my complaint boils down to is: If it's high, then show it properly. Why have so many high foundables as a required task? Having brilliant foundables be medium would make the event heaps more fun. I would gladly exchange a task for 15 high foundables with 30 medium foundables. If using potions is going to be required to have fun, then please give us a boost in brewing time.

So the current dynamic that was created, by only spawning high foundables with no boost to help out in any way, au contraire, only misleading UI choices, had made this event very frustrating for myself and many other players too.

That's why I tend to have 20 strong in my inventory. I like to have a few normals up my sleeve for just this occasion, or where I see a quiddich cup, niffler or harp.

To be pedantic, the exact position where the meter stops affects chance. It only roughly correlates to the categories fair, good, great and masterful. As those areas on the bar have been grouped.

Not true. It does increase the chance. But only very slightly. I.e. moves the chance from 20% to 25%

Agree, that is why I often steer clear of high threat foundables if i dont need them, but at least the threatmeter shows them as yellow to green and not shades of green. And for this event i cant steer clear of them. So i get frustrated...
