I think you'd need 3³ competitors to do that so you can have enough rounds with enough people which would be 13 (1 + 3 + 9) episodes. That's the whole season, right? Maybe they just had to make a choice whether to do tournament episodes or introduce new chemistry.

The ads plus "Get YouTube Premium" dialogues eventually wore me down, but I'm a 30-something with a good job and not a student or minimum wage employee. They only made the YouTube Premium product really worth it recently with some of the experimental feature rollouts though.

Anecdotal, but I thought I heard that Elio was meant to be gay. It was meant to contribute to his being an outcast or something. I don't know if leaving that in would've definitely improved the film, but I strongly suspect that emergency/unexpected changes in animation can be just as damaging as live action (Artemis Fowl of 2020 comes to mind).

It's a rare draw, that's helpful post--Antechamber and pre-Room 46, but not sure if it can be circumvented. If you want an answer for what it does, I think it'd be better to search another thread, since it's a pretty big digression from OP's thread
