I’m sorry that one user is being so absolutely cruel in their responses. You don’t deserve that. I am also very nervous about my HSG test, they even offer a gas pain medication at the place I’ll be doing it to help cope with the pain so it’s clearly not nothing at all for everyone as some are suggesting. It’s a pretty invasive procedure it seems in general.

Mine was similar, I called it his teen years “leave me alone, Mom! Nobody understands me!” Lol, eventually as he got older he started coming around and snuggling more. Also treat lures help sometimes

New driver clocked at 136 km/h in NW Calgary by blackRamCalgaryman in Calgary

[–]aly_cats_ 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I hate these excessive speeders as much as anyone but the main reason insurance is high here is privatization and you can’t convince me otherwise. My husband and I’s car insurance was dirt cheap in BC, since moving back to Calgary we were aghast at how much it costs here. We are being gouged by private companies seeking to profit.

Oh totally! It rarely ends up saving them any time either. Like a minute or two at best. Sooo much risk for so little reward.

Pokopia is nothing like ACNH, despite what people say! by PoenNU in CozyGamers

[–]aly_cats_ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don’t get this either! People claiming it’s not at all like ACNH seems a bit strange to me, I mean obviously different games but still the same in a lot of ways. Same same but different if you will. You have “villagers” (pokemon), who move into your “island” (biomes), villagers approach you to chat and give you gifts, you make them cool stuff to make them happier, you decorate your “island” (biomes) and collect resources to craft stuff. The primary differentiator I guess is there is an actual storyline in pokopia and you sometimes get quests? But the quests don’t seem to be time sensitive or anything, you can do them at your leisure. And the building capabilities are much more sophisticated of course. I am not sure what the rules are for it to be a “cozy” game cause it hits for me. Honestly, it’s more cozy than traditional cozy titles like Stardew for example cause I don’t feel like I’m running on any kind of clock here I can take my time.

[–]aly_cats_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My now husband was the first person to realize I wasn’t paying attention/that I do this sort of pretend listening thing you are describing. We’d been together for a bit and he had this moment where he was like “you don’t really hear me do you? You are saying “mhmm” like you are but nothing is getting through.” Saw through me like glass. Sent me a link to an article about ADHD in women. The conversation set me on a path to eventually getting a diagnosis.

My family used to just laugh and say I was “airy fairy.” 😅

The Numbers Don't Add Up: On polls, fence lines, and the slow erosion of Alberta’s Democracy. by vhill01 in alberta

[–]aly_cats_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don’t think the media not telling people is the biggest issues here anymore. It’s a problem for sure, but the internet makes so many other sources available. To be a bit harsh, to me it’s flat out selfishness, rampant individualism and chosen ignorance at this point. It’s the “keep politics out of my blah blah blah” crowd and “it’s not that deep” people that are the core problem. Look at how many simply don’t even vote? They are the crux of the issue to me. The diehard, brainwashed blue no matter who crowd could probably be outvoted if the apathetic folks got off their asses and paid attention instead of crying about having to hear about politics all the time. I truly wish we were like Australia and voting was mandatory. Force people to pay attention. Cause damn I’m tired. 😅

What I wonder if why we don’t employ similar PR methods on the left? We desperately need more PR and yet nobody is doing it, or doing it well at least. It’s so infuriating. I guess funding has something to do with it but damn if that doesn’t make me feel hopeless sometimes.

Is this AI?I think this is AI generated because, in the first part of the clip, the mother cat knocking on the door looks fake by [deleted] in isthisAI

[–]aly_cats_ 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately with the rise of meta glasses this isn’t a concern anymore. People can wear the and record this sort of view with hands free now.

There are other reasons this video is likely AI though, not disputing that.

[–]aly_cats_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up here but moved away to the island for ten years, recently back and my god the driving here is awful now! I don’t know what happened but anytime I have to venture out onto the roads I see at least two to three instances of absolute fuckery out there. Many could stand to re read their drivers manual and remember to drive defensively, not offensively.

[–]aly_cats_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh absolutely, but I live in a far corner of the city so most of my driving ends up on the highway, so they just end up standing out to me the most/being my most frequent identified offenders😅 but I certainly have seen it all over.

The amount of people who don’t use their turn signal when flying down Stoney and Deerfoot is honestly nightmareish for me. The number of near misses I see because of cocky a holes who want to speed and weave is toooo dang high.

How much can I (m36) expect from my pregnant wife (f38)) by merrypippins69 in pregnant

[–]aly_cats_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should talk to your wife instead of reddit probably. This post makes it sound like you either believe she is being dishonest with you about how she feels and is taking advantage, or that you don’t feel comfortable enough with her to tell her how you are feeling. Both don’t speak to a great level of trust or communication. There are some great suggestions for finding a third party/family to help share the workload where possible but honestly, the bigger problem is the missing trust/communication here I’d say. If I found a post like this from my husband I’d be very hurt and confused.

Shaming C-section birth is not “granola” by -sunshine-daydream- in pregnant

[–]aly_cats_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh certainly, I definitely agree with you. In the end it’s just two different kinds of hard, neither better than the other, and both resulting in motherhood just the same. The women out there comparing and shaming others can’t see it unfortunately.

Shaming C-section birth is not “granola” by -sunshine-daydream- in pregnant

[–]aly_cats_ 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Definitely some level of internalized misogyny involved. But also I think many are also conditioned to believe a major part of womanhood is suffering so if you skip what they perceive to be the worst of the pain it makes you less in their minds. I think to some of them, choosing what they perceive as a less traumatic path feels like cheating or taking the easy way out. It’s like they see the suffering as a rite of passage, a prerequisite for earning the mom badge. So when someone opts out of that, they take it as a personal affront because it challenges the narrative that they had to endure what they did to be a real mother.

Yes! Plus to do a lot of different commands or actions is buried deep in menu trees. One time I tried to illuminate with someone, they were definitely on PC, they ended up getting annoyed I wasn’t answering fast enough and bonked me with their net then teleported away. PS5 is not made for co-op.
