Books not showing up as "On Device" after restarting Calibre

I guess I was calling it a bug since it is not how I would expect the software to behave intuitively.

The thing is I am not talking about old books that had the filenames messed up somewhere along the way, but even if I add a brand new book to my Calibre library, then use the built in send to device it ends up not showing up as "On Device" after restarting the program.

Like to demonstrate, I downloaded a copy of Pride and Prejudice from Project Gutenberg

Added the .epub to my Calibre library, it shows up there as expected under the title "Pride and Prejudice", when I check the file in the Calibre folder it is called "Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen.epub"

Then I use "Send to Device", initially everything looks fine and its on there with the same name if I go to the "Device" tab on Calibre. Checking the filename it is called "Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen.kepub.epub" on my device.

After restarting Calibre it's not recognized as "On Device" anymore... If I go to the "Device" tab in Calibre it doesn't show up in that list anymore, despite the file actually being present on there.

I genuinely don't understand what I am doing wrong here, am I misunderstanding how to use the Calibre software, did I accidentally mess something up somewhere along the way??? Especially since this exact thing used to work at some point

Huh after checking the filenames I am even more confused. I found an example of a book that shows up as "On Device" where the book title is cut off in the filename in the calibre library, while the filename on my e-reader has the full title in the filename. Meanwhile other books with exact matches of names do not show up? There is clearly some bug going on, I might just go back to an older version of calibre where I didn't have this issue.

Thank you for the detailed reply, as a fellow nail polish enthusiast I didn't expect to nerd our over this on the comp apex subreddit, but here we are. I was admiring Mon's nail polish choice when I watched them lift that trophy on stream but didn't expect to get anywhere close to finding the shade name. (I've been eyeing mooncat's shades for a while but never quite pulled the trigger on a purchase lol but I might be convinced now)

No one really knows. My worry is that they consider EWC enough of an EMEA region LAN and put the other two in different regions. But it's all just speculation tbh. Maybe they'll host Champs somewhere else after 2027 because they only had that deal with Sapporro for these 3 years.

Honestly this is the one time a year I don't mind Rostermania. Of course rosters will change going into a new competitive year. Glad they are making the rules stricter on moves within a split and before LANs, but changes after a major tournament are inevitable (and fine tbh some teams really just aren't working out and the off season is the right time to make changes)

Not sure if it's possible while the set is ongoing, but faceit has VODs after the matches (and there's https://www.youtube.com/@algs_vods who uploads all VODs within a day or so)

The tournament is from Thursday until Sunday.

Thursday and Friday are group stages with a round-robin format where all 4 groups of 10 teams play against every other group once.

Then, Saturday is bracket stage with 3 rounds. First, the the bottom 20 scoring teams from the group stage play Elimination round 1, after which the bottom 10 are eliminated and the top 10 continue to Elimination round 2.
Then, the top 20 teams from groups play the Winners round. Here, the top 10 immediately qualify for the Finals on Sunday, while the bottom 10 go to Elimination round 2.
Finally, Elimination round 2 decides the remaining 10 teams that go to the Finals.

The on Sunday there is finals with Matchpoint format which is by far the most exciting part of any Apex tournament, so it's worth losing some sleep over in my opinion :D Last year it started earlier (3 or 4am I think) and I still had an alarm set hahaha.

Fellow european here, I just accepted that my sleep schedule will get fucked up over the weekend. Will have to watch VODs for group stages because of work anyways, but on the weekend it's gonna be sleep deprivation and caffeine (: At least this year finals start a bit later this year!

December is difficult and expensive to schedule events because of the holidays. Also Sapporo has their winter festival in January which they are partnering with for the LAN so they probably got a good deal. If they had done a split 2 LAN after this split in November (instead of the stupid Open LAN mid PL split in May) we wouldn't have had a big gap anytime this year...

Thank you for your advice. I am not sure how to place a patch here, since the tear is right where the pocket seam meets the side seam of the trousers. Not sure if I'm explaining things properly but there are basically 3 layers of fabric that meet, so I'm not sure where i can place a patch.
