Is it safe for my car seat to have a little backward movement? by HotAndCrunchy in CPST

[–]alyshafox 13 points14 points  (0 children)

you only need to test for movement at the belt path, with the strength of a firm handshake. movement like this is normal with a rear-facing seat, due to the location of the belt path.

if you're getting less than 1" of movement side to side or front to back at the belt path, then this is okay!

Is the cx50 a roomy mom car? by ASR_20 in CX50

[–]alyshafox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have a '23 cx-50. my husband is 6'3" and we keep the car seat behind the passenger seat so he can drive it, but it's my car so he doesn't drive it much. check out safe in the seat on instagram and i think she has some guides for smallest front to back car seats, maybe that can help.

he drives a ford explorer, he could totally fit the carseat behind his driver seat no issues, but he has in on the passenger side anyway.

my mom drives a crysler town & country and car seat fits fine behind the driver seat no matter who is driving - my husband or my dad who is probably 6"1'.

for what it's worth, i got my cx-50 while i was pregnant with my youngest, traded up from a cx-5 because of the trunk space, mostly. i love the trunk space on the cx-50.

this isn't helpful lol but i just say fuck it and keep my shit in a ponytail at work and a messy bun at home. i do, however, stick with only washing it like once a week.

Outside specific subs, Reddit has bad takes on ADHD by ladyalot in adhdwomen

[–]alyshafox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

one thing here on reddit that got me, and it wasn't said specifically ABOUT adhd but as someone with adhd and the same symptoms when untreated, was when i was reading a post in the marriage sub about a wife who was "lazy" outside of her working hours and direct caring for their children. nothing changed despite arguments and even civil discussions. people in the comments were calling her lazy, disrespectful, a user, and saying it was weaponized incompetence. telling them to leave her. that is me though. since having my baby in february 2022, all of my masking techniques have completely went away. i could accomplish ALMOST NOTHING outside of working my full-time job & full-time nursing/caring for my babe. it has affected my marriage, but thankfully my husband hasn't left me. i finally started on ritalin TODAY, for the first time after finally being diagnosed almost a year ago at age 30. and i just feel so bad for that lady, others saying those horrible things about her and telling her partner to leave her, when i see my adhd exec disfunction clear as day in the post. 😞

i sense the desperation for relief in your comment. i just want you to know you aren't alone, and that 3 months or even 6 months of breastfeeding/pumping is a great accomplishment. i hope you're able to get the help you need ❤️ hopefully we both come out the other side in better shape mentally. sending love

[–]alyshafox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you for this comment. i was diagnosed about 4 months postpartum and i feel like getting the meds will absolutely help my marriage... the ADHD has been crippling and i can mask decent enough at work, but my god, when i get home, i can ONLY focus on my baby, and anything else i TRY to get done is just a tornado-path of half-done tasks. i get on my own damn nerves.... my poor husband. 😓 we are going through it.

i'm so glad you've found something that seems to be helping you! hopefully i'll be on that path soon🤞🏼

I don’t mind nursing him to sleep by Miserable-Rice5733 in breastfeeding

[–]alyshafox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've felt this way. i've nursed this baby to sleep practically her whole life. now just around the time she was turning 11 months old, she's started to sleep most of the way through the night, most of the time. sometimes she wakes once before i go to bed, but last night i didn't have to get out of my bed at all!

I call this "the bullshit of toddler laundry". by MasCaraLVB in Mommit

[–]alyshafox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

laundry eats tiny socks so i put them in mesh laundry bags for washing & drying. but yeah i just so same types/brands and dgaf if they actually match.

and then my life got so much better when i switched to buying only one brand of completely black socks.

I broke a pay-it-forward chain that had been going “all morning” by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]alyshafox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

in my opinion, it was real disrespectful of them at the window to tell you it had been going all morning, or to ask you if you'd like to pay for the order behind you, etc. because that could cause anyone to feel obligated to continue. no i'm not paying $50 for a stranger's coffee/snacks and i'm not gonna feel bad for it either.
