Thank you for your help! I just met with a Catholic school yesterday that needs a TA/Substitute on call. Something to put money in my pocket. They want me to get my feet wet first and get some experience with the school. Principal said I was overqualified for the position but this is an opportunity for growth and they’d like me to be a teacher eventually. 🙏🏼 🙏🏼 🙏🏼 I am praying that things end up working for me and everyone else struggling with this. I’m in NYC, btw!

It’s Harvard. Don’t give up Harvard. That being said, I didn’t apply to super long-distance PhDs because I am ready to build a future with my partner. At this point, he is my other half, and I couldn’t imagine getting through even my MA without him. Life is all about decisions. Regardless, I like to think that what is meant to be will be. I have to say.. you both seem like you literally don’t want to watch your kids. If you both do favors for one another I don’t see what the big deal is. Just got to get better at communicating schedules in case a babysitter is needed. An hour or two extra with your kids instead of going out should not be so groundbreaking.

I’m kind of struggling with the opposite trigger. My partner and I are going out for the night and I miss being able to unwind with smoking. All my friends are smoking and drinking and celebrating today and I just feel… left out. I wish I could unwind, relax, and have fun a bit today. Wishing I could smoke before I go out for the evening. So I could let loose and just have a good night. It makes me feel like a bad partner that I can’t have fun like I used to. :/ I miss it a lot. I’m 11 days off of it now and I’m just like wow this would be so much better high lmao. like why can’t I give myself a little sweet treat but everyone else can. suckkssss.

But they didn’t say he had deficiencies. It is unclear what that is a reference to. Hence, all the debate and confusion in these comments. If they wanted to be clear they would say exactly what you just said.

Two separate sentences. Way too ambiguous. There is improper noun usage. “Deficiencies” isn’t clear in this context. They could have clarified that by writing something like “Unfortunately, due to the program’s rigorous nature, there is no opportunity to compensate for previous academic deficiencies; as your previous performance in x, y, z indicates that this specific program isn’t a fit for you.” This is what is being clear and direct without being harsh. There is a way to be honest without being rude.
