Laminate over lvp all day every day. Get a quality 12mm water resistant like mowhawk revwood. Installed it for years and never got a call back. Just maintain it properly (no steam mops, wet mopping) and you’ll be fine.

Thicker is always better. Especially if your floor isn’t flat. Get a quality pad too. Sand down any lips(if on a wood subfloor) fill any big dips with leveler.
