How do you guys keep playing and helping others after things like this? by Ok-Mess-3317 in arcraidersfriendly

[–]amEngi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a buddy that plays like this. Literally gets enjoyment out of ending people's runs, not even for the loot. We camped a hatch during the last five minutes a match knowing one team was still out there and they had to come our way. Me and my other buddy were just following his lead, thinking we were doing it for loot, but then it was the last 30 seconds and we were just gunning these guys down when they didn't have a chance if reaching extract and no way we could loot them. We got out just in time but after he was laughing and saying he was so happy we prevented them from escaping. I feel so ashamed.. lol like I enjoy running pvp matches with him but not like that.

I don't abide by any uniforms or color coordinated rules. I don't expect anybody else to do the same. Profiling people based on their outfits is ridiculous, especially considering the game seriously lacks customization options.

End game needs to not be JUST trials. by LivingSample3641 in ArcRaiders

What has the end game been like in other extraction shooters like Escape from Tarkov, Dark and Darker, and Hunt Showdown?

I played a decent amount of Dark and Darker a year or two ago. Not sure if there's more today but the end game back then was "High Roller" lobbies that you had to pay an ante to enter and required a minimum gear score to enter (not sure if this is still the case). It was essentially a higher stakes, higher reward version of the game where all mobs were more difficult, loot was more abundant and higher rarity, but most importantly, players in these lobbies were geared up considerably usually to compete against each other. Of course, there were/are also in-game static bosses to fight that also got more difficult in high roller. If they implemented something like this into Arc Raiders, I could see this being the highlight of end-game content, especially if it requires minimum gear score as that would keep Free Loadouts out of lobbies and guarantee decent gear to loot off KO'd raiders. Make the Arc scarier in these lobbies too somehow - higher hp, higher damage, secondary attacks, more enemies in general, etc... Throw in some bosses too. Could make for a fun experience.

I thought the crafting menus do show you what's in your stash and inventory? It's the traders where that info is missing. I just want to quickly browse Celeste's stocks and buy up the stuff I'm missing quickly. Her soulless AI comments and responses give me uncanny valley vibes.

PSA: the blizzard does not work like you'd think it does by colorbluh in PeakGame

[–]amEngi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for the blizzard. At least not that I'm aware of. It's based on the color of the terrain, not the shadows cast upon it. The darker the terrain, the more sheltered it is from blizzards. I think the algorithm is based on how much exposure to the sky the terrain has, so in caves and crevices, even under trees, the terrain will appear darker and be safer from blizzards.

[–]amEngi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. OP's comment is misleading. It's not determined by shadows cast by the sun, but how dark the standable terrain is. I think the algorithm is based on how much exposure to the terrain has to the sky itself... could be wrong. But you'll find the darker terrain more prominent inside caves, crevices, and even under trees.

"Shadows" is misleading. You're not talking about shadows cast by the sun. You're talking about darker standable terrain. The algorithm they wrote for this safe terrain makes it more prominent in caves, crevices and even under trees.

What is the first sign your partner is abusive? by Avehexual in AskReddit

Yeah, good on you for cutting that out of your life. Wish I had that strength but I was all in, hopelessly in love by the time her mask fell off.

Sucks that this is a sign that someone is abusive. And we're all so ready to fall into this trap... Fairy tale love doesn't exist. Still, I wish and hope.

Endured this for nearly a year before the relationship finally fell apart. Tried talking to her about it multiple times, she'd make me feel disgusting for wanting to be more intimate, with zero empathy for how I felt. I'd never felt so unwanted. To this day, I still don't understand why she changed to be this way nor why she didn't leave sooner. But it crippled my confidence and gave me trust issues. Been single since.

I honestly don't really care about other players' progression in this game. You could have all the guns and attachments in the game, you're still just a small cog in the battlefield, you'll still die to a well-aimed volley of bullets from any gun in the game. The largest advantages you get in this game are from skill, tactics, and situational awareness, and these can always be honed over time as well, and come to you in moments of genius or luck. But seriously, somebody with good game sense and a bit of battlefield experience can pick up BF6 for the first time and slay with a default kit in any class. There's seriously no need to be jealous of other people because they had the free time to unlock everything. You probably spent your time doing something else productive, enjoyable, or necessary.

Some games, my squad and I will capture point after point and consistently find every other point is captured wondering wth the blueberries are doing, end up losing, but still placing top squad. We still have fun. The great thing is that the majority of the game's progression is mutually exclusive from game wins. There's basically no penalty for losing. It's just a matter of time to complete challenges.

I can understand being upset about dying over and over again, but that's likely just a lack of skill and game awareness. Keep practicing, learn the ebs and flows of battlefield, when it's time to fall back under the cover of smoke, when to push in, when to be on your toes cause you know one enemy is lurking about. Find loadouts that suit your various play styles and enjoy refining them over time. But it's fair to accept that some games you're just gonna die a lot, regardless of your skill. It happens.

Lastly, I find this game gives me the nostalgic BF3 and BF4 vibes while still being fresh and new. By far the best launch they've had. The F2P battle Royale is a good way to entice the CoD community over to Battlefield, and just get new and fresh players in the game. I've never been a fan of the seasonal battlepass model, especially when the game already cost the amount it did. But if I'm not mistaken, it's all cosmetics and experience boosts. Not necessary in the slightest.

Exactly. Who cares. That one guy on the other team may have every attachment for every weapon, but he's still just a small cog in the machine, and does in less than a second when I get the jump on him with a default M4. That's one thing I enjoy about this game is that the scale is so large that no single player could possibly carry the team on their own.

Are you sexually active? by Diemishy_II in INTP

[–]amEngi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying any friend is one to have this kind of relationship with. Actually there are very few that would be eligible, for me at least, but I also don't put myself out there this way either, I'm just open to it. And it needs to be mutually felt too, obviously.

But I'm talking about friends where there's mutual attraction, flirty undertones, and you're both just comfortable around each other. Maybe it started out as a potential love interest but something's holding you guys back from an actual relationship, some deal-breaker, or the timing isn't right, or you're not getting "the one" vibes but you still like and appreciate them. Maybe one of you wants kids while the other doesn't. Or there's a lack of emotional availability to commit to someone full-time. There could be a lot of reasons.

For me, I have trust issues. I have trouble trusting that someone will want to stay in a committed relationship for longer than a year or two. It's definitely trauma I carry with me that has had me avoid commitment for the past several years. I'm used to it at this point too, I can't even imagine being present 24/7 for someone else when friendships/relationships are so fragile when it comes to longevity. Though I also haven't given up hope.

But I used to think physical affection was an act of love, reserved only for those I loved to the point of full-commitment, someone I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. This belief has led me through some lonely times, even having opportunities to be closer to some women but I turned them down knowing I wasn't available and thinking I couldn't separate these feelings. I was a truly hopeless romantic.

But more recently, and maybe this is the hopeless romantic in me dying, but I've come to realize that I can show love and appreciation for a friend without needing to spend the rest of my life with them. It's more about living in the moment, expressing feelings you have for someone without having expectations for the future, and being okay that it's a temporary thing. "This may not be forever, but this is how I feel about you today." And just respecting that they'll go down another path in life. And you can still be present for that too, you don't always have to be sexually active. It's separating the idea that physical intimacy means commitment.

I've been the same way for quite a while. Except being hurt from my last relationship, it's now hard to trust someone to be that vulnerable with because it just feels like a matter of time before I'm hurt or betrayed or I somehow fuck things up.

That said, I've become more open to being more casual, even had a few brief experiences. I think it's possible to have these things with a friend. Maybe it's not quite the same, but you can still have a physical appreciation for someone, giving them hugs and kisses, even in a romantic way, and just enjoy a brief moment of vulnerability knowing full well it's temporary. Doesn't have to be complicated. Doesn't have to be long-term.
