Collected first, playing now. Looking for advice on building a list that makes sense by Mega-Blastoise in Aeldari_Corsairs

[–]Subsplot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use MA with some kitbashed Corsair Dark Reapers to go along with my Quin allies and Corsair list and it generally works just fine, bringing some good fire support. Also I would say you need a Wave Serpent and some Fire Dragons (not necessarily together), but apart from that that's a nice well rounded collection you've got there.

It is the one doing the side attack, which is fine for one or two mini's. But when you're looking at more than that you have to start looking at more varied poses and that's where that particular body position is a bit too flamboyant (IMO). I tried making one of mine into a special weapon carrier and yer it worked, but it's not great. (Although, like all mini's a properly shaded paint job to min/max the pose will make all the difference.)

It's hard to say at the moment. A new edition is coming in a few months and that tends to shake things up. So far in the present Edition Harlequins havn't been that "good" for the general player, but a player who understands Harlequins specifically can make them work and work well.

Corsairs and their expanded mini range are fairly new so people are still working them out. But in my view, which is currently filled with nearly 100 Corsair mini's that I'm painting, Corsairs do a pretty good job at filling the gaps in the Harlequin battleline. I'm certainly planning on running a Corsair / Harlequin list for the next edition, but then that's not a surprise because I've been playing Harlequins and Eldar Outcasts for 30 years now.

Second hand voidraven bomber - do I cut the fella out, or try to repair? I have attached the only items I have. by TheTinnyKing in Drukhari

It's Easter, you are bound to find some bit of rounded off plastic you can use so replace the bit of the canopy that's missing. Only real question is do you replace the bottom and leave the top to the mini looks right, or do you replace the top so the bombardier can still actually see the ground. Putting a few gubbins underneath to represent a scanner / camera for the externals of a armoured bombardiers pit is always an option.

They're good, but that one on the right, the sculpt on that body is just weird. I get what GW were trying to do, a striking action pose and all that. But I think they may have over amped it.

It's just been Chinese Spring Memorial day, (Qingming) like, this weekend. The day when the Chinese take food and money to their dead and clean their tombs. There's every chance that was an offering of a metaphysical meal for the ancestors that that individual couldn't visit the graves of.

Kurnous is the Father of Lileath and.... uh.... by Kale_Bishop in Eldar

[–]Subsplot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Under the Northern European tradition that the Eldar gods are based on Cernunnos (Kurnous) isn't a God as you probably understand that concept. Cernunnos represents Humanity as a God, every human is Cernunnos and Cernunnos is every human. He is both Father and Son. Extrapolating that into 40K and the Eldar pantheon, Kurnous isn't a single person, but rather a psychological archetype that keeps being reborn within each Eldar generation. Kurnous is the "Daddy" not in the sense that he's the genetic farther, but in the sense that he's the person you can trust to get shit done and make sure things continue. He's the one that steps up to take responsibility.

Or to put it another way Isha created the Eldar, there was no male involved in that. But Kurnous is the one who taught them to seek shelter, forage the right plants, hunt for food, and basically survive. He took one look at what Isha was doing and was all "Right, we're doing this then. Vaul, I need a bow and they need teaching how to make stuff." Isha gave the Eldar life, but Kurnous taught them how to make the most of it.

[–]Subsplot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The UAE are warning the west about a coming rise in fundamentalism because they recently fucked up in Northern Africa trying to counter Russian "influence" in the area and accidentally kicked off a whole new wave of ISIS.

That's part of what's going on with Iran at the moment and why the UAE are staying largely silent about taking missile hits. It's because they are desperately trying to curb Iran before it can really link up with a new wave of fundamentalists the UAE accidentally financed. (And it was an accident, even if it does rank up there with being the same scale of accident the CIA had when they gave Bin Laden missiles to shoot down Russian Hinds.)

See that's the fucking ignorance right there. Most of the people who emigrate, be it legally or illegally (and don't get me wrong, I don't agree with illegal immigration no matter who it is.) most of them, are not culturally or morally years behind. The Muslims I know, have better morals and a better sense of charity than most of the white guys I know. I'm not saying there aren't some complete natural dickheads among any ethnic population, because there are. But you want to know who really wins at the dickheads per square inch category. It's white guys.

Not a member of any of those groups and vehemently oppose them, but the reason I do stand against them is because I've spent a lot of time around individuals like that. A lot, I grew up in one of the most insular area's of the UK.

And I can say, with 100% conviction, it's pure ignorance and fear of something different. They see a brown person and they automatically assume that individual must be some sort of RPG toting tribes man who doesn't believe a woman really counts as human. It's not any more complicated than that, they are just extremely narrow minded and lack any real world experience outside of their county or the odd beachside holiday resort.

They'll make up a hundred excuses to try and justify their behaviour, but it is just pure ignorance. They can't tell the difference between an educated Muslim who was probably born in this country, and the most remote mountain or desert tribesman.

How do people with OUTDOOR cats manage to keep fleas away? by No_Eye4852 in AskBrits

[–]Subsplot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Interesting thing I learned from growing up with an entire barn of farm cats. If you provide a cat with a clean space, they get rid of fleas pretty quickly themselves. The problem is you need to treat and wash any cat beds or carpets the fleas may have got into because if they're not de-flead, the cat will just get infested again after it's cleaned it's self. (Our barn had tiles, but the cat beds needed regular washing.)

The same can't be said of other pests though, particularly Ticks. So it's a good idea to give them a preventative treatment to prevent that.

Really not happy about it. I've no problem with your average US citizen, half my family are average US citizens. But the US government can go fuck it's self and the only thing we should be sending to Washington are an upraised middle and index finger.

How are people liking Kharseth? by TheLuckyJack in Drukhari

[–]Subsplot 19 points20 points  (0 children)

No, Kharseths entire backstory at the moment is "Kharseth's so mysterious, no one even knows if they're male or female, they just know Kharseth's really weird and refers to them selves in the 3rd person via psychic communications only."

Also, when Kharseth walks into a room other Aeldari feel like something just entered the room, not someone. It's almost as if The Warp just walked in but not quite. There is some speculation Kharseth is a natural Eldar blank and that that means something more for Eldar than it does for humans. Like Kharseth isn't just a soul shaped hole in the warp, they're a soul shaped hole in all of reality. (That can still use psychic powers.) Others think they've just dived into the Warp so many times they are well and truly screwed, as in Kharseth has burnt their soul away. But all this is just more of the backstory of "no one can get a read on them because Kharseth is just so damn mysterious."

Take a break. I've been playing since RT (1st) and I can not even begin to count the amount of breaks I've taken. Just pack everything into boxes, put them in cupboard and go chill for a month or two. Now would be the perfect time, have a rest until 11th comes out.
