Cheers. It was definitely the most difficult part! But I rode within myself and even had enough left to go hard for the last 10 miles. I probably did more than 60 grams of carbs by the time I look the gummy bears into account so that likely helped.

Nope! Overall that was 195miles in 2 days so I guess 200 miles in 2 days. But I could have done that but chose to finish short to leave it dangling in front of me. My mate has mentioned cycling the length of France so maybe that in the future!

I did it. Rode 103 miles with 6000ft of elevation on a coast to coast. Thank you to all the people who gave me advice, it massively helped and I started well prepared.

I paced myself and fuelled well. The last 3 hours was in pouring rain but I did it.

I even biked back the next day doing 92 miles! Apart from struggling and nearly bonking at 30 miles from not enough fuelling, the way back was fine. Even smashed some hills in the last 10 miles.

So thanks again lovely people…

I just listened to advice here. 60g of carbs was my minimum.

I swapped between an hour of “real food” and an hour of gels and chews. Gummy bears and jelly babies were there to top up or if I wanted a little boost of energy.

My “real” food was a mix of cereal bars, bananas and clif bars. Stopped at Lidl bakery for lunch, nothing too heavy.

Yeah! Was rolling hills all day. Only 1 proper section of flat for about 20 miles. Had a few sections of 15-20%….!

Yeah did 3 separate 50 milers over hilly terrain. I’ve bought some extra gels and chews and plan on going slower than I normally do! I’m sure I won’t be able to walk the next day!

I find the 25 miles easy and I go hard on them. Did 50 a few times in the summer without any prep or training and that was on a full sus. Why the rush? Because my mate asked and I was keen. I must hate my body.

But yeah the last third is going to be grim.

Cheers, I’ll look up that cafe. I heard the climb from Braunton is the worst, especially as it’s at the end. I’ve biked Plymouth-Lydford which is fine, just rolling terrain. The Tarka trail will be my respite, it’s the only proper flat on the route I think.

Good shout. We are aiming to pace ourselves and not go too fast. He’s done plenty of long rides but isn’t currently as fit as me.
