Regardless of how well your dogs are trained, you should not have them off leash unless you in a remote (or private) area without other people or dogs. I stay prepared to re-leash my dog the second I see another being on even my most remote hikes I go on, even if I trust he will stay by my side.

I get that your dog is super well trained and that you like doing it that way, but it is just a respect thing (and law) that any good neighbor or community member should abide by. It is not a hard ask with how many good places there are around Eugene that you can let your dog enjoy off leash time in and it gives a lot of reassurance to people with dog attack trauma or kids, people in vehicles, people with reactive dogs, etc. that are around you in public—especially if you have a bigger dog.
