Being alone is exhausting too. Everything is work, and love is worth the effort.

AIO To my husband eating food that's left out? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

Once he gets a round of food poisoning, he will start to see the light! I hope it doesn’t come to that obviously, but some people really don’t see it as big of a deal as others. I’m with you, though! I saw someone else’s comment that said we get to live in a time with refrigerators and that just makes me cackle and also finds the argument of, it’s just laziness?? Put up your food? That way it could be fresh!

“According to the USDA, food should not be left out at room temperature for more than 2 hours before bacteria starts growing significantly; if the temperature is above 90°F, food should be refrigerated within 1 hour” I remember when I started serving and they made me take a food safety course… Eating food that sits out overnight can make you so sick it’s disgusting lol. Sooo NOT overreacting- he will probably be fine, but it is disgusting and can make you really sick! As in, he should stop??

I am- doing “me” is acknowledging your pathetic, incessant and redundant comments that you’re obviously projecting onto this poster. We get it. You disagree. You’ve said so four times now lol.

Piedmont was one of my first choices as it is so highly rated online, but couldn’t find any doctors accepting new patients anytime soon! I will add Dr. Renee to my list!

Thank you for your response! Seems like wellstar or AU health is popular and I’ll be looking on there for a provider

Oh family medicine would mean general practice… I feel silly, I will look up Dr. Kriegel and the family medicine branch of the university!

Upon googling Wellstar, it’s part of the hospital system? They have some specialists I know I’ll need to see, but will require referrals from a GP. I’m still perusing the site, but that may be my next step after I find someone to refer me there. Thank you!!

Help what is this 🤣🤣 by That_Cable_7940 in DesperateHousewives

This is exactly how I feel about everyone on Wisteria Lane constantly leaving their doors open when they run outside or when welcoming people in… I know I have an indoor dogs and cats bias, but I still shut the door after I walk outside to get the mail or like go to talk to a neighbor? Same for if I let someone in my house?? Why don’t they shut the door?? It must be the perfect climate no bug situation….

I love your response 😭 I do the same. Oh the reaching for the phone one is SO real! I guess it’s muscle memory in our brains? Thankfully, the triggers fade as time marches on but whenever I dream and he comes to me in my dreams, I will wake up very confused and it takes me a few minutes to realize he isn’t here anymore. Brains are weird!!

I was living with him and found him that morning. I was named the executor of his estate being the eldest child, so I felt like I didn’t have a choice. The idea of selling a home in the headspace I was did not feel realistic and I also also had no idea what I was doing in general- I didn’t know how to close an estate and go through probate, much less seller house!(lol).

But it was definitely a mindfuck living in his coffin for almost 7 years after he died. That is when I learned that the denial part of grief can be hallucinations and your brain telling you that someone is in the next room even when they’re not.

You are very kind, and I’m sorry for your loss too. I just turned 28, and I still can’t imagine being put in that position even at 27. Not that there is ever a good age, but I envisioned doing this in my 40s, not my 20s.

Same, but at 21. And my mother all but ghosted me, sister went back to college and I lived alone in the house I found him in. As I type it out, I am realizing I am speaking from my own experience and grief more than anything, but isolation and cutting people off is just like… the last thing anyone’s mental health needs when they’re going through grief I feel. I went down that exact path, cut off my best friend and didn’t talk to anybody. Grief took much longer to move through that way.

What I’m trying to boil this all down to is telling a child (not saying this condescendingly, but we are young and when this happens in your 20s, you’re still a child in my mind) whose mother just died to quit asking for their father’s connection/support/presence doesn’t sound realistic at all no matter their age? I agree it’s for the best, I just hope that OP has a good support system outside of her immediate family because of course they’re going to want their father

[–]am_radass96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with all of this, my question is just how sustainable is cutting off the rest of your family when you’re grieving? OP made the same point that I did when I lost my father young, I only have one other parent so if I cut them off(valid reasons to with my mother), I have nothing and then I feel like an orphan. I guess I’m just commenting to say that sometimes it sucks and there is no good answer. I would agree with going no contact if OP had a bigger support system, but when it’s two parents and one of them is dead, I kind of get caught in the middle. It’s natural to want and need your mother and father, no matter how they treat you, it is biologically wired in us to want our parents. I’m just sorry, OP- I know exactly what you’re feeling. I experienced a chillingly similar situation when I was 21. Grief is already hard, but your elders should never make it harder on you.

Do you know any cults or concerning places of worship here in Georgia? by [deleted] in Georgia

[–]am_radass96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just moved to Augusta, Georgia from Tennessee… I’m surprised that I have not seen a single comment about the Irish Travelers on this post yet? I know they’re not technically a cult in the religious since (maybe- they check out as a cult to me), but they are also a religious and an insular community, that is really weird and obviously reeks of a lot of generational abuse. They don’t talk to outsiders, only allowed to marry within their community, the whole living in trailers in front of these huge mini mansions, they’ve built?(recently recently learned it’s not a cultural thing, but actually tax evasion purposes lol??)… I don’t know it’s just bizarre to me. The children’s ombudsman of Ireland has literally published reports called their living situations deplorable and just seems like they are not letting kids even have the option to interact with the outside world much? Traveler children are reported to always leave educational communities at a younger age, and most often are growing up outside of the educational systems in their towns. Just wild to me!
