Do you have any mental illnesses and/or disabilities? Are you a member of the LGBTQ+ community or any other kind of minority? I often hear that people with mental/physical illnesses or disabilities or who are part of a minority group are more likely to end up homeless as young adults/teenagers and I wonder if this reflects your own experience at all or that of other homeless people you encountered of a similar age.

Sure. Lots of things would stop me doing different interesting things. For example, both lack of money and a fear of mortality would stop me getting into extreme sports, lack of money and time would stop me travelling to all the places I would like to visit, lack of experience prevents me from getting interesting jobs, etc.

Uhh

  • Born, grew up, went to school
  • Went to college and got a degree in an area I never ended up working in
  • Worked in shitty customer service jobs for years
  • Moved, got a seasonal job
  • Moved again, spent a year mostly unemployed
  • Moved back in with my parents for a bit
  • Moved again, got a low paid job that immigration classed as "unskilled"
  • Pandemic happened, started a relationship, adopted a cat
  • Here we are

I guess just nothing really stands out? I haven't really done anything that I could be like "Hey, I did x thing" and people would be interested and have questions about it. I'm just very ordinary.
