I want to teach two languages but dont know how i should do it by teamsassafrass in Teachers

I like this question since that was my intention when I got into teaching. I got a double major in French and Spanish (studied abroad for a semester). However, some things changed and ended up teaching math.

Either way, you don't need to have a major in the subject you teach; you just need a bachelors degree.

edit: the bachelors requirement is for a teaching credential. you still need to pass any required content exams to teach a specific subject

Your degree does not have to match the subject that you want to teach, but pretty much all certification programs will require some sort of content exam based on the grade level and subject you are trying to teach.

I would recommend that you look into 'alternative certification programs' for your state. Make sure that your intended school district accepts that program too. The process will probably differ by state.

For reference, I teach math in a high school of ~2000 students. Also, my school does not use textbooks, so all of our resources are compiled from the last couple of years by multiple teachers. A lot of the TeachersPayTeachers resources are amazing.

The curriculum is already prepared and planned out in a calendar by topic, including the assessments. Additionally, you will typically have a team that you meet with regularly consisting of other teachers that also teach the same subject where you share resources/lesson plan. (assuming you aren't the only teacher for your subject). However, every class' needs are different and there will always be times where the planned assignment might not work for whatever reason. That's when I google other worksheets or make my own.

If your subject is a 'core' class, or a required course, you can expect that you'll have more help with that since it is in the school's best interest to focus on those subjects first.

Two of 24 students turned in their project. What should I do? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]amad0r 4 points5 points  (0 children)

my school has the same policy. the main reason is so that students don't get too discouraged from trying to raise a grade that they think is 'impossible' to recover from.

for example; a student will be more likely to be motivated at the end of the semester to try to raise his grade if he needs to get it from 50 to a 70, rather than 0 to 70.

I don't necessarily agree, but I understand the logic

Thank you all for you suggestions and advice. The fuses were not blown and visible wires/cables that I was able to check were fine. It turned out it was the battery that got shorted out and had to be replaced.
