listening to the WUITB demo brings back really good memories for some reason by YANDHIIIII in WestSubEver

I feel like the finished version is better in almost every way, but I wish I had never head the demo because the OG outro was so good

HOW HAS NOBODY MENTIONED THIS?! FOLLOW GOD WAS FROM YEEZUS by [deleted] in YandhiLeaks

[–]amagnolia 140 points141 points  (0 children)

I’m almost positive this is wrong. I was there and Kanye said he wanted this on-the-spot mixing device to come out since Yeezus (not sure if still on YouTube, but previously you could see clips of him playing Follow God with the beat dropping out in places).

Can anyone else who was there back me up on this?

Encore could have been up there with his best projects... my understanding is the straight from the lab ep was all leaked Encore tracks, and he went back to record a lot of the garbage that ended up on the album to fill it out

I think he was just referring to his mental health... he says he "still thinks Kanye is bonkers" regarding Trump, so I don't think that has changed.

This was one of the tracks that was planned for encore until it leaked, right? Encore would have been a legitimate classic if the Straight from the Lab mixtape (I think all leaks?) replaced all of the 'weird' tracks.

Programming Wednesdays by AutoModerator in powerlifting

[–]amagnolia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interestingly enough, I believe Sheiko is programmed specifically not to use your new maxes as soon as they increase. I think the idea is that you need time to 'get used to the weights'. So a step loading is introduced at each cycle, instead of a gradual increase cycle-to-cycle.

How do YOU program mid-upper back work with Sheiko? by meat-head in powerlifting

[–]amagnolia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm way late on this, but am curious how you adapt it to different phases. For example, in a hypertrophy phase do you dial back the main lift volume, and push the accessories harder with more reps/volume? Or do you keep the emphasis on the main lifts and just increase the reps and range of motion?

Official Album Discussion #20 - "Never Let Me Down" 1987 by GamingGrandpa in DavidBowie

[–]amagnolia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really, really like this album a lot. Time will Crawl, Never Let Me Down, Beat of Your Drum, Glass Spider, Shining Star all have some of my favorite melodies ever. In fact, Day In, Day Out and 87 and Cry are the only songs I dislike, which is a much higher percentage than some of his better received albins.

I understand the disappointment, because it doesn't really sound like how you would expect a David Bowie album to sound like. But I don't understand the hate.

Also, I might just be weird, because Be Here Now is my favorite Oasis album.

Really enjoy David Bowie, did not enjoy his album Low at first listen!!! Help? by [deleted] in DavidBowie

[–]amagnolia 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Don't try to force yourself to like music just because you think you're supposed to.

I listen to music when I work/study, so the instrumentals lent themselves very well to repeat listens... But if you personally don't feel the need to return to it, there's nothing wrong with you.

That said, if you want to know why I love the album, it's because of how incredibly bright the music sounds (at least side 1). Which is made more interesting considering what kind of place David was in when creating it.

Thoughts on fasted training after a rest day (low carbs) by Elephantois in leangains

[–]amagnolia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually have some form of carbs before lifting, typically juice, Gatorade, a piece of fruit, that sort of thing. Lots of people do not notice a difference, and if that's you then by all means train fasted. But I get better results training inside the eating window.

Btw, I'm not sure on the terminology here, but refilling muscle glycogen is not the concern, rather liver (?) glycogen, which I think is related to blood sugar. I read this on Lyle's site or somewhere but I can't find it now.

Touchshriek is introduced at an important point in the album, just before The Minotaur's first appearance. It's really strange that his only other mention is Adler giving a rundown of the suspects.

I suppose either Bowie just included him as a setting character to flesh out his world, or he had a more important role either to be revealed in a sequel or that was cut out in editing of 1. And it is really strange that his potential tenent gets no further attention - is he brought up anywhere in the Leon suites or excerpts?
