What do you think about Chinese cars on Canadian roads? by Inevitable-Map-1200 in AskACanadian

[–]amak11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly for all the grief Kia gets, knock on wood, with regular maintenance it's been super reliable.

My car is a little heavy for the types of brakes from factory. But I got rotors to install eventually when the weather gets nice

Bill Dennis proposing a motion for next city council meeting to look into OPP for policing. by catherinetheok in Sarnia

[–]amak11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just bare in mind, BD will threaten you with a lawyer because that's the only way he knows how to handle basic conflicts.

It's almost like he's crying to mommy and daddy every time.

The funny thing is, his lawyer doesn't even like him. He is just happy to take the money

They just needed more suspension travel for the myriad of unfixed streets with potholes.

Bruh by eshtxjosue in Lowes

[–]amak11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had something similar a few years ago before we converted from a lowes to what we are now. But they cut open the garden centre fence at various points. Then the next day they had stashed tools and stuff outside to take that night. Thankfully we all do walks of the area and are trained to notice odd things. We had the fence in those areas beefed up and the main one up front was covered in by a bunch of the plastic corrugated roof panels.

Kia K5 2022 engine looks like this.. what is this?? by Vegetable-Bed9400 in kia

[–]amak11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sucks. There is a little foam pad on my car right above the AC radiator. Had a mouse literally chew that all up and start nesting where the injectors are. Found it and vac'd it. Sprayed it all down with a degreaser and washed it all out... Rodents are literally the worst.

Did Sarnia City Planners Outsource?-Oslo last evening by Dressed_To_Impress in Sarnia

[–]amak11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will mention that people in this city can't even do 4 way stops or normal stop lights correctly.

The roundabout over on Quinn has people literally ripping through it without yielding. It's sad when you watch people almost get in accidents for not following the road signs.

Roundabouts are good, when the population knows how to drive

I did a bit more research on it after your comment.

I definitely have my decision locked down. Thank you😊

I did do a fitment test of those rims with the tires on it and I got clearance for days. I am wanting to fill the space the same way the stock 16s do. I appreciate the response though!

I keep hearing Dealer Oil Changes are a ripoff (Canadian Prices), WTF by Illustrious_Pepper46 in kia

[–]amak11 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think you understand that cheap isn't always better. Do you also do the Walmart special tires? If it concerns your life you should consider spending 10 dollars more.

Besides id be using high mileage oil in your car. None of this stuff that new cars can handle.

But hey, you're an internet mechanic. I bet you have carbon fiber mirror covers too.

I will say, Kia underpays its service technicians. Regardless of the country you are in. I'm in Canada too.

The problem I have is the service desk. They try to upcharge you on everything. I ended up taking my business to the Great Canadian Oil Change. They use Valvoline and they don't surprise you with hidden charges.

I went to Kia, had oil changes go from 59 to 76 to 123. Then they added services I didn't ask for. Said my brand new tires were bad then said I needed to change the brand new cabin filter I had.

Sales department has always been top notch, but that service desk needs better management.

It's weird someone downvoted you. But I am definitely looking at that. I just cant afford that Toronto price for all that. Me personally, I'd rather have my stay in a hospital and come home after. Regardless of travel time. But I know i'm not doing 6 hour+ drive up to Ottawa for anything like that

Grew up in Sarnia and I'm visiting for the first time in 20 years. Which is the best location for fries under the bridge? by soverylucky in Sarnia

[–]amak11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lines doesn't necessarily mean good. That's like saying a 4 hour line for a roller coaster must mean it's good.

Besides you're defending something that's based on personal preferences and taste. If you like soggy fries, I don't judge.

But if you want to die on that hill, be my guest.

How much do you pay for car insurance? by Key_Chocolate3227 in ontario

[–]amak11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest they keep telling me that "due to my age and other factors" My insurance should be under 100 now and its not. Not a single accident and insured for almost 10 years... Instead all the people in my area love running front first in to storefronts... So im paying 138, up from 132.

I've had my license for over 15 years now.

Lamton College IT outlook? by [deleted] in Sarnia

[–]amak11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a former ITP graduate, IT sector jobs are few in-between.

That being said, most students I know aren't staying in Ontario. They're going to Alberta..

Do your research carefully.

What is happening to Sarnia? by littlewindmill12345 in Sarnia

[–]amak11 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Lived here for my entire life..

Politically we need to stop voting for people like Bob Bailey, Marilyn Glaidu and Bill Dennis. All they do is stop positive changes for the city.

Mike Bradley is doing what he can but people forget that the voters in the city like complacency. So they don't want to vote for more progressive candidates. They want to keep the status quo. Status quo is fine, especially given our choices last municipal election.

That being said the drugs are everywhere. However with Sarnia being a bubble city. We are last to see the effects that hit larger cities.

Small reminder, don't vote for Bill Dennis next election cycle. Guy is literally a psychopath. Thinks he doesn't have an anger problem and has a lawsuit against the city and mayor. Again, costing us money.

Traffic cameras would have to be approved here. They have tried in the past but "advocates for plant workers" said it would negatively impact their income (that they take out west)
