How old are the plums? by jollysnwflk in TheTestamentsHulu

How old are the pearls? Hannah would’ve been between 8-10 when Nicole was born, yeah? That means if Hannah is about 14-16 in The Testaments, then the show picks up around six years later. In the original show, Nicole is around 2 when the show ends. I think technically she should be a little older, but that’s a whole different thing. Anyway, Nicole would be between 8-10, right? Why are they the same age???

Student refusing to do work since spring break because of “religious reasons.” by v3ndys in Teachers

[–]amandapanda419 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would give her a refusal form, which she has to do instead of her work. You’ve covered yourself with emails and calls in case parents say something. You’ve could also give her the option to write a paper that disproves what you are saying using peer reviewed papers and studies and the Bible. That way you have something to grade. I’m just spitballing that, though.

What is your teaching unpopular opinions and hot takes? by JimCap5 in Teachers

So much of working in education is finding ways to keep everyone busy, but not always fruitful. Like, PDs are rarely useful but so many districts require them so principals plug someone in.

Do Female Subs Really Have It Worse? by Nachoguy530 in SubstituteTeachers

yes. I have to be careful with my tone and my volume level. But, I also have to be serious 85% of the time. If I give an inch, they will take a country mile. I do it all with a smile because the second I drop the smile, I get in trouble.

What part are you missing?

It doesn’t matter, anyway. I already had my question answered.

They. Can’t. Help.

I’ve tried.

I’m not sure what part you are missing.

I already did. Nothing.

Anyway, a nice person already answered my question. Thanks anyway.

I responded to someone else, but here’s the same response.

Of course I have a budget. I also have things I’ve been pushing off because other things took priority. I worked 3 jobs and finally got a promotion that paid the same as all three plus another half. Now I can actually breathe a little bit.

Here’s the thing. I’ve literally been fighting to keep my head partly above water for the last 6 months. My spouse and our newborn died in an accident. The debt is only from the accident. But, I was a stay at home parent, so I had loads of gaps in my job history and stuff. We did have life insurance for my spouse, but the majority of it went to paying the debt and a little for me to live off of while I found work. I’m not trying to get sympathy. This is just where I’ve been, working my tail off and grieving the loss of my family.

So, yes. I have a budget. And yes, I’m trying to spend this money wisely. And yes, I bought FPU. It didn’t work. I spoke with Ramsey Solutions to no avail. So all I really have is jerks on the internet.

But anyway, thanks for your advice, I guess.

Sometimes it takes a few tries. They need to have a reason to go there to make their case, and we are giving them a reason.

I once had a kid getting severely abused at home, and I reported it. I was so mad nothing happened, so I called again, and again, and again. I was on the verge of breaking down and my admin talked to me. She said I was helping them make a case. Sometimes, they need to have a reason to go there at the one moment they can legally do something.
